At the end of November, I was on a cross country course with my horse. I went to jump him over a 2ft log, and he made it over the log, but I fell off. When I got up off the ground, my left ankle was hurting. My instructor thought it was a sprain. I limped over to Pressed, got back on and trotted a circle to stratch my ankle out, and walked my horse to my trailer and untacked him. The next day I went to the doctor, and found out that I had broken my inside ankle bone and was getting 2 screws put in. I got the surgery done, got 3 screws instead of 2. I can't ride for 9 weeks. I am 7 weeks in, and got a walking boot 1 week ago. I started riding my horse bareback, just walking. The thing is though, i'm riding with my friend, and I watch her canter around while I can only walk. I'd be happy with a little trotting. This morning, my mom saw that my ankle was a little swollen around the tendon. She said no more riding. Tomorrow i'm going out to lunge my horse, but my friend will be there riding with her instructor. I can just see myself only being able to lunge my horse for 5-10 minutes, as my mom won't let me lunge him longer, and i'll look over and see my friend jumping and cantering around. I'm not exactly jealous, but it hurts to watch my friend doing what I used to do. I went from jumping to not even being able to ride. What makes everything worse is that a close friend of mine is leaving for Paupa, New Gueni for two and a half years, and yesterday was the last day I got to see her. |
