Well? How's it coming? I read The Secret of the Old Clock today, and wow, was it exciting! I read the Applewood reprint of the original version, and I must say I enjoyed it even more than the yellow edition, which is heavily edited. I really enjoyed the yellow edition when I read it a couple of years ago, but I like this one even better. I love how Nancy's character is developed, and how resourceful she is.
Nat2 is getting ready to read it next. She read the yellow edition with me, and I hope she enjoys this one as much as I did.
So, is everyone else reading, or have you read, The Secret of the Old Clock? Let us know when you have started and/or finished, or where you happen to be in reading right now. Also let us know which edition you are reading, the Applewood original or the yellow book club edition. Then we can start discussing!
I love book discussions! (And I love Nancy Drew!) | EagleGirl & Deerslayer | 2014-03-05 18:57:01 | | I've read the Secret of the Old Clock. Yellow Book Club...I think. Since I don't know what Applewood is. LOL! xD Anywho, I did not really think it was the most exciting of the mysteries I've read in Nancy Drew, but it was exciting and I enjoyed it very much. :)
I love Nancy Drew! I tend to read them in order but sometimes I don't. I'm in the thick of reading The Message in the Hollow Oak, (12). | jo223 & Snowflake | 2014-03-14 18:29:29 | | BTW, has anyone ever played the Nancy Drew video games? I like the books better, but the games are OK. I'm doing the Silent Spy right now...kind of spooky. :P | jo223 & Snowflake | 2014-03-14 18:29:29 | | Hi everyone! The ones that mentioned the Nancy Drew video games and books replying to book discussion was me! I was helping my sister with her account, and I didn't know I was on her account, so i posted. :P So uh, yea, that's actually me. Just telling you. :) | lydagdolllover & Captain Kirk | 2014-03-14 18:29:29 | | lydag, the Applewood Publishing Company reprinted the first half of the Nancy Drew series in the original form - unabridged. The yellow book club books were all condensed, and some were actually rewritten with plot changes, etc. Nat2 and I both read The Secret of the Old Clock in the Applewood version, and we loved it! It was SO much more exciting than the book club edition. Although, I have to say I enjoyed the book club edition too. | EagleGirl & Deerslayer | 2014-03-16 02:58:10 | | EagleGirl - Gotcha. :) | lydagdolllover & Captain Kirk | 2014-03-16 21:28:29 | | I'll have to try to find the Applewood version then. I like excitment in Nancy drew. I don't really like it when she tries to find wills, those tend to be a bit less exciting. | lydagdolllover & Captain Kirk | 2014-03-19 23:11:46 | | So, how many of us have already read The Secret of the Old Clock? It will be fun to start discussing it! (I have to confess I immediately read The Hidden Staircase as soon as I was done. I love Nancy Drew!) | EagleGirl & Deerslayer | 2014-03-25 19:42:18 | | I've read all the books all the way up to 16. So, yes, I have read the secret of the old clock. ;) | lydagdolllover & Captain Kirk | 2014-03-26 02:04:57 | | I dont own any ND books :P but I've read em all! | Maid Mairain & Dawn Rising | 2014-04-10 01:11:28 | |
