Once I have all of his tack off and I have brushed him and picked out his hooves, I let him into his stall and out into the run. I then put all of his tack away* |

Emily: My parents drive me to the stables. Once we get there, I hop out and ask my Mom and Dad if they can help me carry my stuff into my dorm. I tell them what number it is, then pop the trunk open and grab two of my suitcases. I already have a bunch of things in my dorm, but I need more for the WRP. I wheel them in as my parents grab my backpack and other things. Luckily we can move all the stuff in one trip. I unlock my room with my key and put all my stuff in my part of the room. I thank my parents and give them a big hug. I tell them I'll call, and then they leave. I sigh as I close the door and walk over to my luggage. I open my closet and wardrobe, then open my suitcases and backpack.
15 minutes later, I shut the closet and wardrobe, glad that all my un-packing is done. I then grab my key and put it into my pocket, then walk to the door cause I'm going to the barn. As I open the door, I realize I'm not in my riding cloths! I laugh as I shut the door and lock it. I undress then put on my stained "around the barn breeches," my pink stained horse tee-shirt, my socks, and my around the barn black boots. I grab my helmet and gloves, grab my key again, then open the door, close it, and lock it. I slide on my gloves, make sure I have my helmet, then run down the stairs to the main dorm doors. I push them open then run to the barn, almost running into someone who boards at the barn and her horse as she loads him into her trailer. "Oops, sorry!" I say as I dodge them and keep going towards the barn. When I finally reach it, I cramp my black helmet on, then slow down to a walk a go to Moonbeam's stall. I slide him open, grabbing his red halter and lead rope as I go in. "Hi, Moonbeam! What's up?" Moonbeam looks up from eating his hay and whinnies a greeting. As I put on his halter, I say to him, "Today I'm going to give you a thorough grooming, boy. I'm gonna groom you until you shine, in other words!" I glance at the barn clock, and my brain registers that it's 8:00 in the morning. Moonbeam had already had his breakfast earlier at 6:00. I lead Moonbeam out to the cross-ties and put him in them. I un-clip his lead rope and hang it up on the hook by the cross-ties. I then give him a pat, then run to get his red grooming box. I run my finger over the gold glitter I put on the box that has Moonbeam's name on it. I then walk back out to Moonbeam, set his grooming box down. I grab a curry comb and hard brush/dandy brush and begin to groom him. Before I set the curry comb down on his chestnut coat, though, I laugh as I pat his neck and say, "Well, boy, it sure looks as if you rolled in the mud." I note the mad patches all over him, then laugh again and set to work grooming him. |
