Head up!
Mane flying,
For the sky his eyes are crying.
The moon's grace bathes his face,
Galloping to an open space,
With a nicker, whinny, neigh,
The moonlight changes into the day.
The sun it rises over the hill,
The birds their voices loud and shrill.
His gallop slows to a trot,
His coat is gleaming,
His face is hot,
Yet you see that in his gait,
An expecting heart must wait.
Till the night that steals his love,
When he can race the heavens, and the stars above.

Christmas Pony

~ BreyerChick

"A pony!" I said to my parents."That's what I want for Christmas." I said cheerfully as we sat at the dinner table eating our food. "A pony?" my father asked me, rubbing a hand over his brow. "that's very expensive dear." my mother said to me. "And its a lot of work." my father added. "do you think you can take care of it?" he asked me, looking across the table at me. I nodded excitedly. "Ill feed it, brush it, and i'm doing work at the local stables to earn lessons, So I can ride it too!" I said in a cheerful tone. My father looked down at his food. " I don't know honey, its a very expensive thing, not to mention we would have to pay for boarding at the local stables, and a monthly feed bill." he said "it isn't cheap.

I looked down. "I know, but I will take care of it and do work around the neighborhood for money to help pay for food. I promise." I said to him. "we'll see dear." he said as he continued eating his food.

After dinner I helped wash the dishes and cleaned up my room a bit. I then grabbed a model horse off my shelf. The Golden palomino coat on the model horse made me smile, "one day ill have a pony that looks just like you!" I said and put it back on the shelf, Christmas was only three months away, I hoped I would get a pony. But then again Dad didn't seem to enthused about my request. He was right it was a lot of money. I then went to my bed and laid on the bed. I soon found myself drifting to sleep.

two months later.

I walked into the barn of the local horse stables. I went straight to work, cleaning the isle way, feeding the ponies in the stalls, and making sure they had water. I mucked the stalls last and turned in my completed work sheet to Mrs. Bersley the stable owner, she looked it over and told me that I had 25 more minutes of ride time added to my previous amount of time, so far I had 5 hours of ride time saved up, I Planned on using it if I got a pony for Christmas, if not i'd use some on the Lesson pony Pepper.

I went home after working in the stables and got right to work doing my chores at home, sweeping the kitchen , as I was finishing up the dishes My mother walked in. "thank you for cleaning dear." she said and smiled. "your welcome mom!" I said as I finished the last dish. I then excused myself to my room and started to read one of my information books on pony care and health. only 4 weeks till Christmas I thought. I was anxious to see if I would get a pony.

Christmas eve.

I had been working two days a week at the stable, feeding, cleaning and taking care of the ponies there. I had hours of ride time now. I wondered when I would use it. But for now I had to help make the special Christmas eve dinner. I helped mom make cookies, mashed potatoes, carrots with a special crème sauce, and of course making the delicious ham. It was quite the spread.

We all sat down for dinner, we then savored all the delicious flavors and scrumptious food. After dinner I helped mom clean up. She then looked at me. "Do you still want that pony?" she asked me. I smiled. "Of course I do mom." I said and smiled as I dried off the last dish. "Alright. we'll see honey." she said and walked over putting a bowl up in the cabinet.

I then went to bed very early since I wanted to wake up early for Christmas morning. I tossed and turned with anxiousness. I couldn't sleep because of the excitement of the fact I could be getting a pony. I sure hope I get a golden pony! I thought excitedly. soon I was a bit more tired then I thought and drifted asleep dreaming of galloping through a big green field with my golden pony.

I woke the next morning with a start, I hoped up and ran downstairs. Mom and Dad were waiting already on the couch. They smiled when they saw me run down. "Well merry Christmas to you." my dad said with a chuckle. "Merry Christmas!" is said and smiled widely. "Well lets get to it." my mom said and stood up stepping over to the tree and passing out all the presents. I had many things, new model horses, some clothes, and a blue journal I had asked for as my old journal was getting very full of entries. My mom then stood up and went to the tree and grabbed a small envelope out of the tree and handed it too me. I looked at her as she smiled, "Open it and read it out loud." she said to me. I then tore the envelope opened and read aloud. " Name: Honey comb Blessings, Age: 5 , Breed: Palomino, Color: Palomino, gender: Mare, new owner: Cerenity chortle !" I said and laughed. " I have a pony!!" I screamed, My parents laughed at me. "Merry Christmas Cerenity." they both said. "when can I go see her?" I asked excitedly. "we are going right now, just let me grab the keys." my dad said. I jumped up and down and ran to get some shoes on. I then ran back downstairs where my parents were waiting at the door for me.

We drove about five minutes to the stables, I hopped out the car, Mrs. Bersley was waiting out side and smiled, "Merry Christmas Cerenity." she said. I smiled, "Merry Christmas Mrs. Bersley." I said as we all entered the stables, I walked down the rows, there was one stall that was decorated with Christmas decorations and had a whole new set of tack outside of it! My parents looked at me. " Well are you going to go see honey or what?" my dad asked me. I smiled and ran up to the door and looked in, the palomino looked up at me and nickered, I laughed and walked in and wrapped my arms around my christmas pony.
