My dear pony:
I love it when you smile,
don't think I see you laugh at me
once in a little while.

The Scholarship | Part 2

"I choose... the scholarship for the academy."

My mum jumps up with excitement and hugs me.

"You won't regret this, I know you won't." my mum says before kissing my forehead.

"We will see you in a few days, Lucy. You will be one of the top students there for your age. I must say before I go, your horse seems to have a special bond with you. Horses and owners do have a bond, but yours and starlights is... different, a good different. Well, I'll see you soon." Says Mrs Greenland.

My sister turns to me and says "You made the right choice and I'm going to miss you!"

I give her a hug "We can call and text don't worry!"

The Scholarship | Part 3

"I'm ready to go Mum!" I yell upstairs

"Coming, coming, coming!" She says running down the stairs.

She stops and takes a look at me. My strawberry blonde hair put into 2 braids and I was in a red polo shirt with a horse head logo on it and black jodhpurs.

"let me take a photo!" says mum while grabbing her phone.

"SMILE!" I smiled and dabbed. She put the phone down and death glared me. I smiled again in fear of what would happen if I didn't.

"Perfect! I'm going to miss you honey." She came over and hugged me.

She pulled away "Remember to call every day! Tell me if some annoying girls bullying you like in those horse movies."

"Okay, Mum. Let's get going before I miss the plane."

I leave my home realising that it will be my last time seeing it in 8 months. I turn and take a photo on my phone. I see my dog, Bear, a golden retriever at the window pawing it like he was saying 'Bye'. I waved and took a photo of him. I blew a kiss and hopped in the car. We reversed and started the journey to the airport.

The power of horses
5000 horses all mine!
What a wonderful daydream
My day is so fine!

I just woke up
I am going to cry!
Those 5000 horses
Disappeared into the sky.

But they're mine anytime
I feel alive and free!
Whenever I close my eyes
The horses will be coming to me!

Danger!
By SpiritRF

I was out on a ride with Jet in the countryside. The birds chirped, crickets buzzed, the grass swayed in the gentle breeze. But something didn’t feel right. There was something in the air that bothered me. But I shook it off and urged Jet into a trot, and he listened. His hooves hit the ground in a steady rhythm.
I’d heard stories about bandits and horse thieves around this part of the woods. But I knew they weren’t real. Were bandits even real? I didn’t think so. Those were back in the old Wild West. I didn’t believe in them.
But the next thing I heard was a big loud gunshot, really close, and Jet spooked and reared, and I fell off him, landing on the grass harshly. He started to gallop away, into the woods. “Jet!” I called, “Jet, no!”
But he didn’t listen to me. I groaned. I shouldn’t have ridden a horse not fully spook proof out into the woods by myself!
So I began to walk. If the owner of the horse found out I’d lost him, she’d never let me ride again! I had to find him, and fast, before they came looking for me. And I couldn’t let him be hurt. My mom would have to pay all the medical bills and we couldn’t afford that!
“This is all my fault,” I whispered to myself. But when I heard Jet’s distinctive cry, I knew he was in danger. So I began to run, toward his whinnies, and as I got closer I heard a man’s voice. He was trying to calm down Jet. I ducked into the bushes and peered out.
Jet had a rope around his neck and was rearing, kicking his hooves high into the air. More men came and they put more ropes over his neck and they led him away. I followed close behind, sweat collecting on my forehead beneath my black riding helmet. I stayed as quiet as possible.
When they arrived at a cabin in the woods, they tied Jet to a post and one of them talked on the phone. The rest of the men watched the small dirt road nearby. I wondered who they were waiting for. But they couldn’t take Jet!
A branch cracked under my foot, and I winced, closing my eyes. But the next thing I knew my arm was grabbed and I was pulled out of the bushes. “Found her watchin’ us,” said the man who had a hold of me. The man on the phone looked over at me and hung up, then walked up to me. I tried to pull away but I was no match for the man’s strength.
The man with the phone talked to the man holding me. “We can’t have her giving us away,” he said. “I got an idea,” he said, as he took one of the ropes off of Jet’s neck and came back.
That’s how I got here. A bad thing I never learned how to get my hands free from a double knot. Oops.
I have no idea what the men are waiting for. But I fiddle with my hands silently, waiting, trying everything possible to get my hands free from pulling angrily to untwisting calmly. But nothing works. These men are smart!
But then an idea flashes in my head. I look at Jet. He has his ears pinned and is stomping angrily. Then I look at the men, and I start to sneak quietly to the horse. He looks at me and is about to nicker, but I shake my head, and he seems to understand somehow. With only my fingers to use I get the ropes off his neck, then I grab the saddle horn and pull myself onto his back.
I muster all the courage I can and close my eyes. I can do it, I think to myself. Then I kick his side and grab the reins, and he takes off at a full gallop. My first time galloping! The men start to chase us but Jet is way too fast. Now I see why they call him Jet!
After losing the men I pull Jet to a stop, breathing heavily. I climb off him, almost losing my balance, and I show my hands to Jet. He seems to understand me again as he nibbles the ropes off of my hands. He doesn’t do all of it but most, and I get the rest. I throw my arms around his neck, and we head back to the ranch together. I thought I’d had plenty of fun in my life. But this was my biggest, and surprisingly most fun, adventure I’d ever had!!
