The Story of Foxglove by Roudy

There once was a horse named Foxglove.  He was born on May 30th. He was a famous standardbred horse . His dam was called Firefly and his sire was called Hometown.

Now, when Foxglove was a baby, his mother had gone missing. She had left some tracks in the mud, so Foxglove went to look for her. He followed her scent and came to a little camp.

There was a little campfire with some people all around it, some longhouses, and a couple of tables with deerskin tablecloths and dishes with deer meat and mushrooms in them. There were wooden cups with water in them for the people to drink and a deep, wide stream for them to bathe in.

He saw his mother and his sister Shasta who had been missing for years. He whinnied to his mom and she whinnied back. The people in the camp noticed this and went after Foxglove, but he was too fast, and after awhile, they decided to rest.

While they weren't  looking, Foxglove untied the gate of the pasture that Firefly & Shasta were in, with his mouth, and led them out.  One of the people was still awake and yelled “Wake up! The horses are getting away!”

Everyone in camp mumbled sleepily, and started chasing the horses. It seemed that the horses were going to be caught, but the people forgot about their booby-traps, like foot traps for catching deer and rabbits. Most of them got caught and the others gave up.

The horses made it home safe and sound. The horses never ever ran away again for any reason at any time ever again.
