______________

10 year old Jody MacCaurrler silently listened to the funeral service. Her great-grandfather’s funderal service. She had never really know n great grandpa Jacob Munroe but she was still sad he had died.

Many of her relatives were there, sharing memories and stopfly crying. She was crying as well but not sorrowfully. She was glad he was in heaven.

The minister pushed her thoughts away by saying “Remember to ssay for a luncheon reception, hosted by Coran and Liasa Denverchuck.”

Mmmmm. Jodythough, I wonder what food they… Jody jumped out of her seat. That’s funny. Maybe mylove for horses is making me haear neighs.! Then she heard it again.

Jody immediately jumped out of her seat and ran to the dirt driveway. Then she slowed her pace and fixed her gaze on the corral in fron of her.  Jody gasped. In front of her stood the most beautiful horse had ever seen. Standing at about 16 hh,  the horse  was a beautiful purple-maroon colored horse, a colour Jody couldn’t describe perfectly or find a name for.

Then came something Jody would remember for her whole life. The horse walked towards her and nickered softly.  Jody made no motion except to lift her hand and stroke the horse’s nose.

After a while, Jody went inside and ate some lunch. Then she waled over to her uncle Coran and said, “Uncel Coran, who put that horse in the pasture?” She pointed to the corral.

Her Uncle smiled ans said “His name is Bounty.” She told him thank you and dashed off to the corral. When she got there, she said softly, “Bounty.” Bounty nickered and walked toward Jody.

Jody spent almost the rest of the afternoon stroking Bounty’s neck as he grazed contentedly.

Then Jody heard her father tell her to pack up her things to get ready to leave, so she obeyed quickly.

When she was finally done, she came back to the corral and saw Bounty on the far corner of the pasture with his hindquarters facing her way.

“Good-bye Bounty!” she called.

Then Bounty turned aound and gave a sharp neigh, then raced towards her and nickered.

Jody hugged him and said “I guess you are saying good-bye too, boy.”

When she finally had to go, Jody climbed into the van. Now, she thought, now I am truly happy.
