***CPP MOMS CLUB***| Eaglegirl says okay, and she wants to know what everyone would like to do. | Nat2 & The Price of Valor | | 2014-04-25 01:23:58 | | Hi everyone. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! We went to a lovely luncheon after church, catered with turkey, ham, mashed potatoes with cheese and green onion (they were divine), and sugary yam casserole with pecans. The men brought salads and side dishes (I could not believe how many kinds of macaroni and cheese there were - I was almost laughing too hard to dish any up), and the pastor made several kinds of cheesecake for dessert.
When we got home, I read for a bit then took a nap, and Nat2 enjoyed the chat on Sunday evening. Hopefully we will get around to having a Mom's chat one of these days. That would be so much fun.
I hope to hear how you all spent Mother's Day. I hope it was nice for you, and that the rest of the week is good as well. | EagleGirl & Deerslayer | | 2014-05-13 21:06:27 | | | INACTIVE!! | hosessaddles & Phoenix | | 2014-06-03 22:49:18 | | Inactive confirmed, club will be deleted from the clubs page unless a member wants to step forward to keep it active.
JC | Jane Crandal & JB | | 2014-06-04 02:39:56 | | Well, how is everyone doing? Things are FINALLY starting to settle down. My MIL has moved into an independent living apartment, and is working to get adjusted. It's not easy for her, but things have calmed down quite a bit. We have all been scrambling like chickens with our heads cut off! (That actually happened to my mother when she was a girl, and had to kill a chicken for dinner. The chicken got away from her before its neck was completely wrung, and ran around the barnyard with its head flopping. I used to love to have her tell me that story when I was a girl!)
On a different note, I need to decide what sort of finger food I need to take to our square dance club's anniversary dance. Any suggestions for something that is healthy, not too difficult to make (since I am going to be doing a lot of decorating too), and fun? I'm thinking about making a lot of mini-muffins/cupcakes and arranging them on the counter in the shape of "10". But I would love other suggestions, perhaps for some savory snacks? Thanks! | EagleGirl & Deerslayer | | 2014-06-14 20:10:11 | | mini carrots
celery sticks
brownies -- make them in cupcake tins so they are already in small servings and do not need to be cut
pigs in blankets (little sausages rolled up into crescent roll dough)

How are you all doing? Well, our Anniversary Dance is over, and it was a huge success! I ended up taking sloppy joes (with mini buns, cheese and pickles), chickpea salad, pepperoni chips, strawberry shortcake, and two chocolate peanut butter pies. The only thing we brought home was one pie and empty and containers. LOL
We had close to 100 people there at the dance, we used tin cans and the number 10 to decorate, and it turned out great. I made a wreath out of cans and banners out of can lids. It all turned out really cute. We hid ten crackers (foil wrapped TP rolls) each filled with ten different types of candy all around the hall, and everyone who found one won a prize - a ticker for free admission for two to our barn dance on October. :-) We had a couple of word search puzzles, each with ten square dance calls hidden in them, a memories table with colored notebook pages for folks to write down their memories, and a Beginnings Table with a scrapbook, sticky notes for people to help identify folks in the photos, and a laptop playing a video montage of past dances.
It has been a busy time getting ready for all this, but it turned out great. :-)
In September we are having a Pie Special, so Nat and I are going to be trying our hands at all sorts of different pies over the next few weeks. I already know I'm going to take a quiche, but I want to take at least one other pie as well. Nat and I made a chocolate toffee pie the other night, and it was pretty interesting. Tasty, but a bit sticky. I think that's the nature of toffee, though. I think the next one we are going to try is a vinegar pie. :-) Either that or lemon.
Any of you have any favorite pies you would suggest we try out? | EagleGirl & Deerslayer | | 2014-08-22 23:37:51 | | | OOH that sounds so fun! Wish I could have been there!! | Jane Crandal & JB | | 2014-08-23 00:07:34 | |
