***CPP MOMS CLUB***

It was fun, Jane. I wish you could have been there too!

The Pie Special was a nice dance. I took a turkey quiche, in case there were folks there who didn't want sweet pie. Most of the pies were store-bought, but I think one or two of the may have been homemade.

Our Barn Dance is coming up in two weeks, and our Costume Dance is the week after that. Fortunately someone else is taking care of the Costume Dance decorations, so I am working on the Barn Dance. Nat and I were planning to have good costumes this year, but I don't think I will have time to make much. Last year the club decided on a costume dance pretty late in the game, so there wasn't a lot of time to prepare. Cool Guy went as a tourist (I used blush to put "sunburn" on his nose, and it was great) complete with a plastic camera around his neck, a loose shirt and straw hat. I wore a cardboard square around my neck and went as a square dancer; Nat wore a cardboard circle and was a round dancer. Yes, it was very last minute. LOL

We are still deciding about this year's costumes. They will have to be something we can put together out of whatever we have. I'm not sure I'll have time to make anything. I finally found the time to finish a rayon denim skirt for Nat, but I haven't yet decided on the blouse I am going to make to go with it. I worked on some designs this morning, but nothing is finalized in my head yet.

So, what is everyone else up to?

How is everyone? Thanksgiving is coming up, and I am nowhere close to being ready.

I ended up doing a play on words for the Costume Dance. I put my hair in braids, put a headband around my forehead and stuck a feather in it, put on some camouflage pants of my husband's, wore a fishing vest, and pinned slow moving vehicle signs to the front and back of my shirt/vest. I tied a stuffed turkey and loon (courtesy of Nat) to my vest, and carried a toy rifle. I was the Indian maiden - Pokey Huntress. LOL My children thought I was nuts.

Nat went dressed in a 50's outfit (we made a temporary poodle for her circle skirt) and she looked SO cute! CoolGuy wore his beekeeping suit - he had an easy costume. It was a lot of fun.

So, now we move on to Thanksgiving, then Christmas. At least we have a turkey -we bought it tonight!

What are your plans for the holidays?

My children made our Thanksgiving dinner, and it was wonderful. I'm getting used to this. LOL

This month has been crazy busy, with extra services at church, community events and such. Our cantata is this Sunday. I've never actually played for a cantata before; every other cantata I've ever done was done with recorded accompaniment. So this will be fun. It's not much different from playing for a choir concert, except all the pieces are connected.

What are you all doing this month?

Hi everyone, I can't believe the last time I posted was December and it's already almost March! I thought things were going to settle down after Christmas but they have been crazy.

How is everyone else doing?

Wouldn't it be nice to share our favorite ways to relax and unwind after busy days?

I like to sit down with a good book and read for a bit. A cup of tea goes well with this. :-) I just finished reading The Three Musketeers - I had never read it before - and it was a riot. I am reading the second book of the trilogy (I never knew it was part of a trilogy, either), and it is a bit slower moving, but starting to pick up.

Last night I enjoyed playing on CPP for a bit. When the weather is nicer I am resolved to spend some time grooming or petting my mules each day. It's been so wet and muddy that my son has been feeding them for me much of the time. My joints have been hurting and it is uncomfortable for me to bend over and put on my boots. We've had a few days where it was dry enough for me to walk out to the fence, and I enjoyed getting to love on my babies for a bit.

I also like to sew, but haven't done much of that in a while. I bought some flannel and terry and am going to teach Nat to sew while we make some kitchen towels. Then we are going to work on some doll clothes.

What do you all like to do to relax?
