Rereading that PETA article I posted, reopening slaughter houses in the U.S. I knew a mare that was almost sent to Mexico to be a broodmare because she was permanently lame. I garantee you when she was resold, she would go to slaughter.
Oomph(the mare) is still at the same barn and is being ridden, because she has special shoes. |

The pony my aunty rescued was beaten with a hose because she refused to be bred. Then she got lamintis continually. Her owner was about to sell her to the slaughterhouse for $40. My aunty rescued her and she's living a happy life a pony should be living. And she's awesome to ride.
She's a nice creamy palomino and long silky white mane and tail.

That's sweet fidget! I wish there were more people and places to take in slaughter horses.
There is a rescue that takes in horses near where I live, and they had a horse, that the sherriff basially said *I'll take that horse for you and lighten y'alls load a little bit.* Sadly though, a friend of the rescue owner, was at an auction, and saw the horse that the sherrif had taken, about to be sold to a kill buyer for $25. The woman bought the horse and brought it back to the rescue and told the rescue owner what happened. That horse is either at the rescue, or someone adopted her and the mare is living a happy life. Apperantly that's what the sherriffs are supposed to do, keep the horse for oh so many days, and if no one takes it, they auction it off. I'm just happy that the mare was saved, instead of her other fate. |

I've heard of the PMU industry, it's disgusting. Wonder if the slaughter and PMU industry go hand in hand? Wonder if they sell the mares that are no longer able to perform(I'm not going into detail) to slaughter?
Mdo17, true, but is slaughter a better fate than starvation? I don't think so. I know a rescue that took in starved, abused, and slaughter horses. They rely on the public to be their eyes. Take a picture of the starved horse, with a date and time stamped on it, and send it in to a local horse rescue. |

| Hey everyone I heard they just passed this new law which lets Horses be slaughtered in the US instead of Canada & Mexico.I think the worst part of it is that the foals are just killed off by thousands like their just some sort of item :(.I'm going to try and do a petiton but i Dont know how much signatures Id get.. |
