I saw a foal for sale that they were willing to trade for hay. Alot of cattle have been put down because of the drought. You know it's pretty bad when alfalfa is only $4 more than coastal.
Horse slaughter has been banned from the U.S. The goverment is working on shutting down slaughter houses. |

I haven't found anything that said what the reasons for reopening slaughter houses. Only thing I have found is that, as horse meat is not very welcome in the U.S. it will be shipped out to France, Belgium, Japan, etc. I've also read that the slaughter houses will be governed by laws, not sure what the laws are though... If anyone has more info, please let me know, i'd like to look into this more.

I don't CARE if horse meat is the cure to cancer, or something that'd just encourage people to do it, I WANT OUT. It's disgusting that people find it 'OK' to shoot animals that have been around for centuries and have aided us SORRY, SICK humans in WARS that they don't want to be in, WINNING things for some of us to be ungrateful...half of us would be DEAD if horses never existed. I say for one and on behalf of everyone here, that death is something that no one should have to endure. If one animal had to die painfully, then I appologise, this is not aimed towards any of the people here, but I SAY HUMANS! |

If I may, Lily5, can I suggest we all go and look at the websites of animal (With horse) charities, and then, pick one each, work in pairs if some of us kinow each other well (In RL), and then appeal for funds by doing stuff like sponsored walks? It'd be an eye-opener to people who never knew, and we'd be able to help more horses, even if some of them aren't from slaughter. Oh, and donkeys and ninnies and mules too. Spain I think does them as well. (Spanish lesson- burrito= little donkey ;(. I'm not sure if the meaning is literal or not though...) |
