**** stop horse slaughtering ****

I'd like to become Pals with everyone here. It'd be awesome to know that I've got such awesome buds with blood more noble than King Arthur's! This place is rockin'. I had to do a project about sweets at my primary school, so I did gelatine. I've heard that horses are involved in that, so I put an edited version I'd got off another horse RP website on it. I also made a petition, but one of my teachers actually REFUSED to sign it when I told her what the cause was. NOT cool, dude.

thanks for the statistics rockinrider. I took out the page they came from, it is just too horrible for younger members to see the pictures.

OK! That's fine thanks, I didn't realise, I expect everyone to be hardcore like me. I thought it'd help for people for websites.
Sorry, Miss Crandal!

I find it disgusting. The statistics are about to increase.

Here's a little section that I got off an article:

The move got a tepid stamp of approval from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which said it had always been worried about the way Congress went about its initial ban. PETA said it predicted that horses would be shipped to foreign slaughterhouses.

“A law doesn’t change what’s in people’s hearts, and if business people view horses as commodities, ignoring their sensitive natures in favor of the few dollars that their flesh might bring, the horses were sunk from the start,” said David Perle, a spokesman for the group. “To reduce suffering, there should be a ban on the export of live horses, even if that means opening slaughterhouses in the U.S. again. But the better option is to ban slaughter in the U.S. and ban the export of live horses so that no one is slaughtering America’s horses.”

I honestly don't think that it'll stop kill buyers from coming over the border, going to auctions, and buying horses. These laws don't apply to them!
Here's another little clip from the article:
Congress never banned horse slaughter outright, but gave inspection powers to the Agriculture Department in 1996. In 2006, it voted to halt federal inspections, which essentially ended the industry.

If I find what states are opening slaughter houses, what the meat will be used for, etc. i'll let you know.

I have to admit though, the reopening of the slaughter houses is unsettling. I now worry about my arab mare that I sold in febuary that much more. I always worry about what might happen, where she might end up.

I've been riding a pony that almost got sold to slaughter. Her previous owner was going to sell her for $40 to have a bullet in her head. My aunty rescued her and she lives a happy life.

True Toby, I will pray for hert though, it might not help, but it makes me feel better that she is being watched over.
