She spooked at a jump and I flew off, I broke my shoulder and dislocated my elbow, same arm, but I hopped right back on and finished the show. We got 1st place and won the National Title. Athena: I frown, then smile. Must've been a pretty small competition if a horse refused, the rider fell off, and they still won. At all the competitions I had been to, a refusal equaled four faults, and usually a single fault mean you wouldn't win. And at all the competitions the team would go to, the rules stated that the horse or rider falling was disqualification, as was the rules of the association, and almost all other associations. I decide not to say that, letting Amie explain instead, and instead replied, "Really? That is so neat!" Pressing a button on my walkie talkie, I say "Heading out," a few seconds later, Stasi, the head counselor for the beginner's camp, came back with a "Gotcha. Be back before noon. She patted his neck and let him walk out of the arena and towards the trail. She let go of the reins and stretched her arms as they headed into the woods. Athena: I study Cloudy. "Well, since you said good jumper, I automatically think of show jumping. But he's gonna also have to have plenty of speed and endurance. Of course, if he just has speed and endurance, Endurance would be fun. If you want a lot of change, you could try switching to reining, too. Buuuut, if you still want to do dressage, you could do 3-day eventing, which is a competition, spanning three days, with a different leg of the competition on each day. It still has dressage, but also has show jumping and cross country. For show jumping, you can train with Gemma and I, but for cross country you'll have to do a lot of outside speed and endurance training. That means you'll have to gallop some segments of the trail, and it'll take a lot of work. But it'll be worth it at the competitions..." I tap my chin thoughtfully, then look around. "What do you guys think? And oh! Before I forget," I turn Ari around and canter her swiftly back to the barn. After a couple of minutes, I return, stopping by Gemma. "Here. Here's your walkie talkie, it's how we communicate as cell phones aren't allowed. The first channel is just teammates, the second is for counselors, and the third is for all of them. If ya need to call home, there's a phone in the mess hall. Most of us just clip it to our wasteline, and it very rarely falls off."
