Lizzy: *Wind Chaser! Where are you?* I see my horse by the woods with no halter. I run over to her. *Oh!* I cry, when I see her cuts. *What happened, girl?* I say, running my hand down her legs and back and neck.
Wind Chaser: I snort.
Lizzy: I slip a halter and lead-rope over her head and lead her away mumbling about calling the vet.
Wind Chaser: I smile at Moon and limp away with my owner.
Lizzy: In the barn I put my horse on cross-ties and call the vet he comes and looks my horse over.
Vet: *Well, looks like she's been kicked by another horse. I'll give her some antibiotics to help with infection and tetanus. I'll put some bandages on her leg, but other than that she is fine.* I pat the mare.
Wind Chaser: I snuffle at the vet's hand.
Lizzy: *OK, thanks doc.* I watch as the vet treats Wind Chaser. |
