A new series to read

I have a problem:
I need some tips on downward transitions-especially canter-walk! On the pony I half-lease when were cantering and I ask for a walk one of two things happen:
1) He goes straight from canter to walk but falls on his face and is totally unbalanced and it's a really slow walk
2) (After I ask for a walk) He canters 3 strides, trots about a long side (in a pretty small arena) then finally walks
