| Kierra: *I smile and drive to the fairgrounds a couple county's away* Welcome to the 'Fill in the Blank for State' Beef Expo! *I unload Blue's stuff and set up the blocking chute and tack box beside his pen, I put Blue in his pen and hang up an info sign on Belgian Blue's and Blue's info card (Name: Breed: DOB: etc)* It'll be a while before his show, wanna watch the auction with me? I think they're about to start the Hereford part. *I walk to the bleachers near the auction pen and thank a lady that hands me a program, I scan it and zero in on two heifers, I buy a bidding paddle and hand the program over to Krystal* See any you like? Lot's 4 and 10 are mine. *I stick my tongue out and point to lot 6, a polled hereford heifer with good conformation* She's a pretty good one, I scan the pens until I see lot 4, I check her out and nod, same with 10* Lot's 5, 6 and 11 would be good starter calves, let me know if you want one. I'll always help out a starter. |

| We keep ours in a tractor, and it's the best for only a few chickens. They are kind of free rangers some of the time. The reason it is kind of bad for them is that they soon exhaust the resources of that little plot, whereas with a tractor, there are always new bugs and plants and seeds for them to pick at, since we move it daily. |

Kristi: "Okay," I say to Lucy. I mount Bella and we trot to a trail. "I cleared out some of the trees and animals, but just be cautious. Okay, I want to set up some hedge jumps and log jumps, and there's a creek back there *I point further down the trail* and there's some old fence,too. I was thinking about a picnic table, also. Right now, I think we should just work on trimming the bushes into hedge jumps and gathering the logs I cut down and form some tree jumps," I explain. |
