Birdwing-stumbles and falters in her stride. Takes the time to look around. The trees are dark and close together, dripping with dew. Thick mist swirls around her, and her paws sink into the wet mulch of the ground. She shudders as something slithers over her forepaw. The air becomes rank and stale. Birdwing shudders Where am I? There's no sky. . .no sun. . . ???-Isn't it obvious, Birdwing? slides from the shadows, a dark-fured tom with a rusty-colored throat. His blue eyes glare down at Birdwing and he towers over her, at least a head taller Birdwing-Redthroat? Father? lays back her ears, apprehensive What are you doing here? Redthroat-laughs, a dark, harsh sound. Raises a paw and rubs Birdwing's head, an echo of fonder times long past What does anyone do in the Place of No Stars, Birdwng? How do you think I got here? Birdwing-turns away, jerking out of his caress. her tone is bitter I'll have to ask Blazestar about that. Redthroat-chuckles Yes, I suppose you will. I did kill her. Birdwing-She was my mother. Birdwing-Including you. rushes past Redthroat, fur bristling Redthroat-You attempted suicide, sweetling. You are an official Dark Forest cat now. laughs Welcome to the family. I've ben waiting so long for you. goes towards his daughter Birdwing-jerks away Get away from me! Get your stinking paws away from me! Redthroat-Is that any way to speak to your father? his eyes flash. Continues walking towards Birdwing, paws silent as death Come, Birdwing. Come! Birdwing-No! No! Lakeshine! Moonlightstar! No! NO!
