FINDING CHESTNUT PART 1
By lydagdolllover
ViVi yawned and opened her eyes, then rolled back over and pulled the pillow over her head. If she was REALLY quiet, maybe Lily, her older sister, wouldn't notice her. Unfortunately her plan didn't work, because in a few minutes she felt Lily shaking her lightly.
"Vianna, time to get up!" Lily said in a sing-song voice.
Vianna was ViVi's real name, but everyone called her ViVi, except Lily.
"No." ViVi mumbled into the pillow.
"It's snowing!" Lily said. That sent ViVi bolting to the window. She pressed her face against the glass. Sure enough, soft white snowflakes were falling on the ground. About an inch had already piled up in the backyard.
ViVi immediately dressed up warmly in a long sleeve shirt and jeans, braided her short brown hair, and pulled on some riding boots. Then she glided downstairs and walked into the kitchen, where her mom was making pancakes and younger brother, Ben, was trying to distract her father from the newspaper with coffee. It wasn't working.
"Morning, sleepyhead!" ViVi's mom greeted her as she flipped a pancake over. It plopped onto the pan and made a sizzling sound, the aromas wafting through the kitchen.
ViVi thought about snow instead of her mom's remark. "Dad, can I go riding?" she asked without even saying good morning.
Ben looked up. "Here, I'll help." he smirked, and took the paper from their dad's hands. He looked up. "What? Hey, what did you do that for?" he asked Ben, who was waving the newspaper.
"ViVi asked you a question." Ben replied, tossing back his black hair and adjusting his glasses.
"What did you ask me again, dear?" ViVi's dad asked her, patting a seat next to him.
"Can I go riding?" ViVi asked him again.
Just then Lily glided down the stairs. It always took her a long time for her to get ready. "Doesn't she have to eat breakfast first?" she asked.
ViVi's dad nodded. ViVi sighed and ate her pancakes as fast as she could without being corrected by her parents, not even bothering to pour on syrup. She quickly slipped on a coat and riding gloves and ran out the door.
She couldn't wait to see Chestnut, her horse, and ride around in the snow while it was still light and not too deep. The town where ViVi's family lived was famous for it's snowfalls.
ViVi threw open the stable door and ran down the stalls to the middle one, where Chestnut stayed. She threw open the stable door and gasped.
Chestnut was gone!
Stay tuned for part 2 next time when ViVi and her family try to find Chestnut!

Trust
By GotTheGiggles

Hooves flying over the sand,
carrying me away from all my fears,
as we gallop across the land,
His mane wipes away my tears,
as we fly through the night,
he takes care of me,
sitting astride my beautiful horse,
with his warmth protecting me,
i cry.

she gallops across the open plain,
moonlight dancing all around,
the wind streaming through her mane,
as she fly's across the open ground.

Her hooves barely hit the earth,
as she moves, faster, faster,
does she know what her powers worth?
as she gallops without a master,

muscles rippling beneath her coat,
as she gives it all she's got,
air whistling through her throat,
as she releases another knot,

She has done it,
she has found the key,
releasing her spirit,
she is free.

Chapter one~
Moving

It was a sad day when we had to move away from our house, It was eaten up by termites.. Luckly, Our grandparents let us stay at their house in the country side as long as we needed. Christina, A city girl, didn't know a think about living in a place with chores. All she cared about was having sleep overs with friends and lip-gloss. They started packing up everything and hugging and saying their GoodByes to everyone they knew in the neighborhood. Christinas Documents for school had been already waiting at the new one near their new place to live. Relington High was the school she would go to. Once everything was packed in the U-Haul that their grandparents helped pay, they went off in their near 200 mile journey to Austin, Texas.
Chapter 2~
The Arrival
Once they arrived, it was already dark. Grandpa and Grandma brought out candle lights in lanterns using a sheilded hand to keep the breeze away from blowing out the small light. When they got to their room, Christina was really mad. She had to share a room with her parents. She tried to get some phone signal, but there was none. When she calmed down, her and her parents began to sleep on the not so comfortable beds.
"Cock-I-Diddle-Doo!" Christina rose from her bed sharply. "Ow!" She said. Christina had a crick in her neck. It hurt so bad that she cried. When she went to the dinner table her mother asked; "Whats wrong!?" Her mother asked in a shakey voice. "M-my Ne-e-ckk!" She cried. Her mother turned to her father. "Do you have any pills to give her?" Her father responded a quick "yes" and went to grab the pill. "I dont wanna take the pill!!" Christina said crying and getting angry. "They'll make you feel better, Sweetie." Her mother said. "I change my mind! Im not taking the pill. And, And, And.. I just dont like them! I gag on them!" Her mother sighed and put her elbow on the table as she sat down and rested her head on it. Long strans of brown hair slightly covered one eye. "I go- No, she said she doesn't want to take them." Her mother said interupting her father. "Honey they are just Mind over Matter." Her grandma said. "Well I dont care! Im going to go outside." She slammed the door and held her neck as she went out. Then she heard a slight neigh. She tried to look around by moving her head but instead she had to move her whole body. A light grey and black figure moved at the neighbores fense. It was a very old horse, Probably 29 years old at the least. But she was in great shape for an old horse. Then Christina gave in.. She started to jog towards the horse ready to befriend it, and Wham! The horse high turned tail out of there. It seemed afriad of humans. Or maybe, It doesn't like little girls. Maybe, it doesn't like Christina.

Horse at Jesus' Birth
by soccertes239

I was in a deep sleep in the stable when a man, his wife, and a donkey entered. I heard them whispering to each other. I could not understand what they were saying over the chatter outside in the busy streets of Bethlehem. According to my master this was due to the order the local king had sent out. I only heard half of what he was saying that morning when we left because I was so tired. I woke as the man walked over to me. There was a manger beside my stall. He petted my black coat and grabbed the manger. He carried it over to his wife.
“Here you go, Mary.”
“Thank you, Joseph.”
He started filling it with hay as Mary sat holding her very large stomach. I thought she was just fat until her water broke. Joseph looked up and muttered a few things before he ran out of the stables. I heard him yelling for a mid-wife. I had no idea what that was. All I knew was he had left the door open. Mary tried to get up to close it but was hurting too much. I then pulled grabbed the rope on the door and pulled it closed. I heard he moan with pain for a good hour before Joseph came back with a very young woman. She looked less than ten. She then ordered something to Joseph to fetch, and went about helping Mary with the delivery. I watched as the babe started to be birthed. As Joseph entered the barn with cloth and water, the child started to cry. The girl started to clean the child with the cloths. Then she cleaned Mary. Tanne, as she was called, handed the child to Mary and Joseph saying,” He is a healthy child. God came to me a few nights ago and told me I was to birth the King of kings. Is this the child I was to birth?” Mary and Joseph looked at each other then Mary nodded. I didn’t know then but this was Jesus Christ our Savior.

The Overlooked Animals
by Roncy

On the dark night
Without a single light
A Savior was being declined.
How could innkeepers know that He was God?
They didn't; it didn't hit their mind.

Then, a kind innkeeper with no room in his inn
Offered his stable to those who traveling had been
And into the stable the young couple went
Thanking God for that man
And the room in his stable which he lent.

A Savior was born and carefully laid
Down in the manger, wrapped in cloth and set on the hay
As the horses and donkeys looked on in awe,
Baby Jesus smiled and giggled;
He was perfect; without a flaw.

This story may be familiar to you,
But did you ever think of the horses there too?
To think that they were among the first to see
The one and only God,
The gentle, heavenly baby?

I wonder if they knew that this baby was Lord
Or if they looked on, overwhelmingly bored?
I think, though, that even they knew
That this wasn't any normal baby,
This baby was Lord God, yes, it is true.
