All the Way to Timbuktu

I rode my horse
Over the sea
She went along
So happily.
So when we arrived
At Timbuktu,
We were ready to rest
But our shoes were worn through!
We went to the shops
And got me a pair,
But there was no blacksmith
For my mare.
So we swam back home,
Over the sea,
My horse went along
So happily.

Grace

Flying hooves,
flowing manes,
all you think of is grace.

High tails,
beautiful movement,
all you can think of is grace.

But what about the other things,
the personality,
the strength,
and not just the beauty?

So then,
what if horses,
equines,
animals,
are much more than grace?

It depends on how you look at them,
even if,
all you can think of is grace.

. I was born in 2003. When I was a little girl, I loved to slip off by myself and play. I would make up stories about princesses, and wild horses, then tell them to myself. Now, I’m not much different. I still find secret nooks in the woods and craft long tales about times past. When I was 5 years old, all I wanted for Christmas was a set of toy horses. I had had a wonderful idea about having them live in the wild, and gallop on the trails. I remember dreaming about them for hours. I received them on my birthday, which, since earlier then hoped for, was great! I still remember their names, Caroline, Mary, Amy, and Helen. They also came with a dog that I called Bessie. I took those horses everywhere. To this day, I credit my love of horses to those models. Now I collect Breyer models, and love riding and caring for real life horses. I have a personality often characterized as “The Dreamer”. Well, I guess I do dream. I want to be a writer, and a rider when I’m grown. A writer because I love weaving stories, and a rider because I love horses!

Sometimes we forget
Sometimes we forget.
But we shouldn't.
When you look at your horse, do you think,
"Oh I still have to muck out your stall! And I have to groom you, and clean your tack!"
Well, caring for a horse is work.
But it's so much more.
Caring for your horse is the number 1 way to bond. It's the best way to show your horse that you are pals. Being a pony's pal means work, it's true. But work is pretty much the best thing you can do for your horse.
So, when you still have chores to do, think "Great! I get to clean your stall, and you can graze while I do it. Then, we can bond together while I groom you. After that, I'll clean your tack so that we can go riding together!"
Horses are a partnership, that requires give and take on both sides. Sometimes we forget how much our barn chores mean to our horse.
So don't forget.
Remember.

true love

you think that you know love,
but everything is fake,
you don't know what true love is until you have found your dream,
when he nuzzles your neck,
when he lips up the treat so gently so his teeth don't touch your palm,
when you gallop across the field as one,
when you know you would do anything for him matter what it took,
the bond between girl and horse,
that is true love.

Of Wind and Spirit
by DreamerGirl

He galloped with the wind, his spirit soared. Everyone knew of the mysterious horse. It was as if he flew through the fields, the forests, and plains. He stayed away from all people, leaving his existence a legend.

"You will never catch this horse," some would say, while others will tell you, "Only someone like minded will ever catch him."

Though everyone knows, you cannot catch a horse like this. He is free, and nobody could change that. Sometimes, people even wonder if he's real, if he's just an illusion.

There is only one thing for certain: He is of wind and spirit...
Nothing more, nothing less.
