Black dangerous
by Wenilyy

Hi, my name is Sara I take riding lessons at Star Horses stables. I´m not that good, Whenever I try to jump I always fall off and I suck at galloping and cantering I ALWAYS fall off. My trainer always gets quite angry when I fall off because I fall off every lesson. But I have a sister her name is Clair and she's the best rider at our stables. She can jump high and she wins all the competitions. It´s so annoying I always get jealous of my sister because she is so good at everything. But one day when I was riding pink a grey pony I noticed a trailer whit a horse in it I didn't think much of it until the stable hands took the horse out of the trailer. A big Friesian gelding with a long flowing mane walked out of the trailer. He snorted and looked at me. His dark dreamy eyes looked into my soul. He was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. Then he started rearing and neighing trying to escape. Stop it your stupid horse!!!! one of the stable hands said. I can't hold on much longer! he said with fear in his voice. The black beautiful horse kicked him in the face so that he fell backwards. GET THAT HORSE he screamed. The horse started to run at a dangerous speed towards our paddock all the outer lesson students started screaming and galloping away from the horse but I stod there bravely. I jumped off pink and started going towards the black horse. Are you crazy!? get away from the horse now! my riding instructor screamed with fear in his voice. He stopped right in front of me and started to rear. Calm down boy I said with a calm voice he stopped rearing and walked towards me. Shhh, I´m not going to hurt you...You are safe with me. I petted him on his muzzle and he looked into my eyes. His long mane was flying in the wind. ARE YOU MAD!!?? my riding instructor said to me with an angry voice. He grabbed the horse halter and walked away whit him. Get on pink and think about what you have done! he said. I´m sorry...I said. Can you tell me his name? His name is black dangerous and I don´t want you to touch him! but who owns him? I asked. This is your sister Clair´s new horse. I couldn`t speak I was in shock. I walked over to Pink and mounted her. But me and black dangerous have a connection I whispered. The lesson ended and we walked over to the riding lesson horses stall. I brushed Pink and gave her some fresh hay. I ran over to Black dangerous stall he looked at me and started neighing. Hey, Black dangerous! I said happily. I looked over to the side and saw his saddle and bridle. Why don´t we go for a ride? I said as I put the saddle on his back. When I was done I started to lead him out to the yard. I put my foot in the stirrup and mounted him. Let´s just walk today I said and patted his neck. What are you doing with my horse Sara!? Clair screamed. I just want to take him out on a trail ride I said. But he´s mine! Get off him! she started to run towards black dangerous. He freaked out and started galloping away. Stop black dangerous I screamed. I hold on to his mane and tried to pull the reins but he didn´t stop. He ran out to the field and started galloping at a dangerous speed. He stepped on a stone and fell towards. I rolled away and hit my head hard. Black dangerous are you okay?! I looked to the side and he was lying on the ground very still. BLACK DANGEROUS!? I ran over to him but it was too late he hit his head hard on the ground and died. I cried hard and pet his neck. I´m sorry black dangerous i´m really sorry.

My Very own pony.
By Horsecrazygal14

This day I thought would never come. I’m sitting in my mum’s car, filled with bubbling excitement, as every few seconds I look behind me to see the white float following behind to make sure I’m not dreaming. “Mum I can’t believe Claire at school is selling her pony Monty for so cheap!” Mum looks back at me with a smile creeping over her face as she replies “She told me that she outgrew him but we’ll have to see if his confirmation and vet check is all good first. Don’t jump ahead of yourself Hailey.” She’s said that sentence so many times since we officially started to look for my very own pony, but I have a good feeling about this one.

I’ve known Claire since I was in pony club at around 6 years old, she was always really nice to me but seemed quite reserved. I constantly admired her dapple grey Connemara pony called Monty. It seems almost yesterday I saw her with him at a pony club rally! Claire is much too big for him now and she is very tall for her age. Monty is 14hh and so a pretty good height for me. I just can’t believe how perfect it is!

My thoughts are interrupted as I hear the familiar screeching brakes slide to a halt. I jump out of the car and mum and I walk up to the door. We know Claires family well, but not well enough to not explain why we’re here. We’re greeted by Claire's mum, Renee, and her smiling face as she kindly shows us to the stable where Monty was brought in for us to see him. When he hears us coming he nickers in greeting, sticking his little nose over the stall door, expecting a treat. “No treat today I’m sorry monty!” Renee laughs, shaking her head at the pony’s licking and slobbering on Renee's open palm. She slips on a halter and ties him to the bailing twine just outside his stable door. Claire walks past the stables towards the house and I give a small wave, she doesn’t return it. “Well he looks pretty good to me.” Mum says as she finishes looking at him from both sides and picking up his feet. “He’s been ridden probably around once a week by Claire, but as you know she’s outgrown him so he gets lunged every other day too. Why don’t you try him out?” Renee asks. I smile pleadingly at my mum as she takes a moment to decide “Sure, why not?” Renee lets me give him a quick brush as she goes and gets Claires old tack and brings it out to put on Monty. “All ready to go!” Mum announces as I finish buckling up the girth. I lightly mount onto his back from the mounting block and squeeze him with my legs. He responds immediately, starting in an energetic walk. “Keep him steady!” Mum cautions as I push him into a bouncy trot. “Good boooy” I whisper to Monty and he flicks an ear back in my direction as I urge him to canter. His canter is so smooth for a pony! I easily flow with the movements of his gait and circle a few times before coming to a halt beside my mum and Renee. I already feel like he’s mine. “That was awesome!” my mum praises. “Yeah you did get him going well!” agreed Renee patting Monty on his neck.

After Monty had been cooled down and put back in his stable we all went inside to have lunch. “So what did you think of him, Hailey?” Renee asked, placing two plates of sandwiches down on the table. “I thought he was great!” I exclaimed looking to my mum for her opinion. “Yeah we do have to get him vet checked though.” Mum said, taking a sandwich. “I thought you might want that, I called in the vet for today at 2pm.” That was in 20 minutes! The sooner we got everything done, the sooner I might have a pony! Mum and Renee chatted for a fair few minutes longer of uninteresting parent talk, so I day dreamed of my future with Monty until there was a knock on the door. Expecting the vet, Mum and Renee open the door. But it’s not the vet, it’s the old lady from the feed store! What is she doing here! “Oh, hello Mrs. Beaumont! What brings you here today?” Renee says, with her usual smile. “Well I just noticed as I was doing the gardening, that there was a little grey pony sniffing about the carrots! I was wondering if this pony would be yours?” You could see the astonishment arise on Renee’s face “Yes, I suppose that would be Monty...but he never escapes his stall!” “Well whether or not he usually does, he has now, and I’d rather him not be escaping on my carrots!” Mrs. Beaumont complains. “I’m very sorry for this disturbance, we’ll go get him right away!”

Renee tells me to quickly grab his halter hanging outside his stall and to meet them with it at their front gate. I rush to the stables and grab his blue halter and as I do, I notice the bolt loosened on his stable door. I don’t have time to think about it as I sprint to the front gate. “This way quickly!” Renee tells us as she shows us the way to the neighbours vegetable patch. “I just don’t understand, he’s never escaped!” Renee says, mostly to herself. Mum gives me a meaningful look and I know what she’s trying to say. What use of a pony who escapes their stall all the time! I refuse to think that the float might be empty on the way home. But it does seem rather strange that Renee claims he’s never escaped before....and now he suddenly has and the bolts are loose on his stable door. We reach Monty as he nuzzles the growing carrots with his nose. I slowly approach him and slip on the halter, leading him back to where mum and Renee stand. I wouldn't take Renee for a liar, I decide as I tell them “I saw the bolts loose on his stable door when I went to grab his halter. Do you think someone may have loosened them?” Mum looks unimpressed with my accusation but Renee looks intrigued. “Maybe that is so! We always fix things if they are broken at the stables, so I don’t see why we wouldn’t have noticed and fixed the stable door if it was loose.” We make our way back to the stables and are greeted by the vet.

I look outside and just at that moment spot Claire with a screwdriver in her hand! She realises I’ve seen her and drops whatever else was in her hand. “I’m so sorry Mark! We had a runaway pony and I completely forgot.” Renee tells the vet as I tie Monty up outside his broken stall. “Don’t worry about it.” Mark smiles. Renee gives him all his medical history paperwork and Mark quickly scans them before taking Monty’s vitals. “All up to date with vaccines, displaying perfect vital signs...now just to walk through the gaits” We untie Monty and the vet watches him being led in the walk, trot and canter. “Looks great! Not favoring any legs and looks to have very good balance.” After that, the vet lifts up all his hooves and runs his hands along Monty's body. “Not even a blemish, seems good to go!” Mum pays for the vet check and Mark gives mum his number for any future vet calls we might need. Once all the vet business is over, I walk over to where Claire was standing, and there is a piece of the stable latch dropped onto the floor!! I pick it up and run back to Renee and Mum. “Renee! Mum! I think I know who broke Monty’s stable door.” They both look at me, surprised. “Who?” Mum asks as I hold up the broken part. “Just before the vet check I saw Claire with a screwdriver holding this, she dropped it when she saw me and I only just picked it up before!” Mum and Renee look shocked and Renee manages to speak “But Claire would never do something like that, would she!?” Renee seems to question herself as mum replies “We can’t base it off one thing Hailey saw or found, we should just go talk to her, I’m sure she has an explanation.” We make our way inside and Renee calls out for Claire to come into the living room. Claire shyly makes her way in the room.

“Claire, Why did you have a part of Montys stall latch in your hand when Hailey saw you with a screwdriver?” Renee asks looking with concern to her daughter. “Oh Mum!” Claire wails sitting down on the couch in a heap tears streaming down her face. “It was me! I broke Monty's stable door and let him out!” Claire manages to choke out in her despair. Renee gasps. “But Claire! Why would you ever do such a thing! You love Monty!” When Claire doesn't reply Renee goes and sits next to her to comfort her. “Claire, talk to me, why did you break his stall door?” “I...I didn’t want you to sell him! He’s my pony!” Claire replies “But we made the decision together! I thought you said you were alright with it! You have Dawn now your Thoroughbred to ride!” Renee sputters. “I know! I just wanted one last attempt to keep him!” Claire sets off in another bout of tears and Renee turns back to us “I’m so sorry you have to see this.” Mum good naturedly replies “No, It's alright if Claire doesn't want us to buy him, we can keep looking for another pony.” And she stands up to leave. I can’t believe this! But I can’t help but feel sorry for poor Claire, having to sell her beloved pony. “No! No!” Claire starts looking up from her crying. “I want you to buy him, I saw the way you rode him, you looked great Hailey.” “uhh..thanks Claire.” I smile confused by the sudden compliment. “Claire, we’re so sorry we made you think you had to break your ponies stall as the only way to get us to not buy him, but we’re glad you changed your mind.” Mum tells Claire. Claire smiles and turns to her mum “I’m so sorry mum.” “It’s alright Claire, just promise me you’ll never do something this stupid ever again!” “Promise!” Claire laughs.

Monty is now happily standing in the back of the float munching slowly on his hay looking contentedly out the window. Oh what a day! I’m just glad it ended in Monty being my very own pony. I catch my mum's eye in the mirror. “So are you happy with Monty?” she asks, expecting my reaction. “Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes!!!” I say bursting with happiness.

~Spirit~
by horsecrazy08
They say you were wild, wild and free.
They said you were to wild for me.
They said you were worthless.
But I knew better.
I took you for a ride.
But what they said made no sence.
Sure you were wild but you were not worthless. Me and you had a connection that brought us closer together. As we went into a gallop I thought to my self you are as graceful as a swan and your gallop was as delightful as your spirit. So i named you Spirit. So i bought you. When we were home I relised that you were not worthless but you were wild. But I will still love no matter what.

Silverstorm
By Browniesgirl
Yesterday I was mucking stalls. Now I don't know what to do. I have a horse. She's a beautiful dapple grey named Silverstorm. And she has temper. She stared out the trailer window, stamping and whinnying as loud as possible. I decided to ride. All the while i was tacking her she was snorting and seeming impatient. But when I got on her back, she was smooth and obedient, so much so that it seemed as though she could read my mind. But that was the trail ride. when we headed into the arena she was so angry and threw me off. I got up and caught her. This happened so many times that I began to train her in cross country. There, she excelled. On our first competition, on cross country I had high hopes. But she acted up and we were disqualified because I knew she might hurt people. My sister, an excellent show jumper, said,"Why do you even want that horse? She won't win you any competitions, you'll get laughed at, she'll-" "I keep her because unlike you I don't but horses to compete and train, I get a horse because I love horses and want a friend I'm not going to show her, she'll be a companion and her rides will be pleasure and exercise." From then on it was that. We had a deep bond and I will never give up on Silverstorm, my always friend.
