The Horse And Rider.

The prairie blows the grasses
And whips the horse's mane.
They travel, horse and rider,
Through the sea of amber grain

Hills roll by, and clouds pass
But steady are the horse's hooves
Upon the wind blown grass
As they travel, horse and rider

There is no trail that they follow
No path that can be seen
There they travel, horse and rider
Upon the endless blowing green

SLAUGHTER POEM
By, ksanimalgirl

I used to be your special pet,
But then a new horse, you met.
You don''t love me anymore,
I can tell by the way you slammed my door.
Why don''t you love me, I ask,
But of course, you can''t hear me and get on with your task.
Then you sell me to an old man.
Well nobody else wants him, so I guess you can.
All I wanted was some respect and love from you.
You could have given it to the new horse and me too.
I was told by a little mouse,
Your being brought to a slaughter house.
I was so frightened, so scared,
But nobody even cared.
Luckily, I was turned away,
But there were horses, there to stay.
So, you see, I was almost meat,
Just for somebody to come and eat.
Why did you sell me to a slaughter house, I cry.
I can only hear the birds in the sky.
I long for you to buy me back,
That would set me on track.
I wish to be ridden agian, by only you.
Selling me was a silly thing to do.
I hope you understand why I took the time,
To make up this little rhime,
I am a lucky horse,
I do know that of course,
But I just can''t stand to think of the other horses back there.
I think to let them know what''s happening would be fair.
You should be against horse slaughter, you see.
It could save lots of horses just like me.

SURPRISE PONY
by Sheindel

The holidays were gone,
And so was my hope.
I had wanted a pony,
But on that day ... nope.

I had done well in school,
I had kept my room clean,
I still had no pony,
My parents were mean!

My dreams had been dashed
for another year.
It would never happen for me
I did fear.

So when I awoke that bleak day in Jan.,
And saw her in the pasture...
how I ran,
ran, ran, ran!

I ran to the pony
right there near the barn
And said "Who are you?"
She replied with a yawn.

Well ponies can't talk,
and I knew that, I did,
But I was, after all,
just a 10 year old kid.

So I ran back inside -
not wanting to go,
But I had to, I had to,
I just had to know.

My dad was right there
at the door with a smile.
"That barn there's been empty
for, oh, quite a while."

He patted my head
and he gave me a wink,
"It's about time it was filled,
don't you think?"

I was giddy with glee,
"Is that pony for me?"
"She's all yours," he then stated
I was simply elated!

She was pretty and grey,
Calm, well broke, he did say.
She even was trained
to pull a small sleigh!

"Let's go bring her in."
He didn't have to ask twice.
Off we dashed to the pasture.
She was just, oh so nice!

And that's when I learned,
Although good things are earned,
They don't always arrive
When you expect your surprise.

Your parents are trying
And you need to, too.
And perhaps, if you're good,
This can happen to you.

To end my small poem,
So it’s not a large tome,
Here is a wish from me, Sheindel, to you:
May all of your Pony Dreams also come true!

Happy New Year 2012 CPP friends!!!

Temptation
by Elizebethonbareback

Being temped in a good way

Sometimes i am temped in a good way

Like when i see a open feild

i know what to do

racing back through the woods

into the barn

i open the stall

and gently fling myself over you

i wisper not with my voice but with heart and soul

Race

understanding she takes off

back through the buetiful woods

and into the open feild

As i fling myself off this buetiful creture

She ducks her head and begins to graze

i lie down on the grass and wisper

'This is the place for me.'

Missy
by Golden Swallow

Blue roan, you saw me standing alone without a horse in my heart without a horse of my own,
Blue roan you knew just what I was there for,
you heard me saying a prayer for
a horse I really could care for,
and then you suddenly appeared before me the only horse my arms will ever hold,
you heard somebody whisper please adore me,
and when I looked blue roan had turned to gold!
(Which was actually Skippy, a golden palomino stepping infront of her.)
Blue roan, now I'm no longer alone, without a horse in my heart without a horse of my own.
Missy.

Mucking Day
by Golden Swallow

Mucking day:
mucking day is coming,
oh, the very thought!
scooping out the dust and bugs and other things I'll think of naught.
the straw that was once clean and fresh is now wet and yucky.
The trough oh,
look I'll have to clean out as well,
it's filled with grain and hay,
well tis the first new year's day!
Happy new years

Tragedy
by Onaneagle

Me...a horse
running through the field
frolicking galloping
around the pasture
But a trip
a bad step a mistake
I fall and squeal
head over heels
little stars over my head
everyone watching me
Calls the vet
I try to stand
my bone cracked
The vet shakes his head
fills up a syringe
I squirm
and he plunges
I see angel horses dancing
frolicking like me
stars
my owner whispering 'good bye'
all black now
a horse
a star now
and I see my owner
looking up at the sky
and I whisper
I'm ok
here forever.

Run
By: chincoteague13

Run, Run, Run away from our fears
Run, Run, run away from our tears
They can't get us here, but they will soon hunt you down
Faster and faster, yet they don't make a sound
Whinny in fright as they come closer now
Gallop I say as you take off faster than light
Run, Run, Run I scream into the night
All I hear are your squeals, and my heart in my ears
But I know we are free now, free from our fears

*The flight of a racehorse*
by TGG

I let my racehorse see air,
so we could gallop without a care.

Where no one could stop us,
and ruin the flight.

We are now a animal of speed,
racing towards the horizon on a forgiving path.

As we stop the wind slows now,
and I fall to the ground.

Then the flight is over.
