Marie: *Whispering* I wonder what Father is going tell us, Daniel.
Daniel: I don't know May. It looks like it's important.
*The Bennetts walk to the parlor and sit down.*
Father: I have decided that we will stop drinking tea. We believe that England has no right to tax us. Many of the other people in our colony have started to boycott it as well.
Marie: Father, what if someone else offers us tea? Must we decline? Father, I would hate to do such! Being invited to tea is quite an honor and to decline would be quite inexcusable. I know you want me to be a young lady and if I did such as that I could not!
Father: I am afraid you should do such as that.
Mattie: What about the tea we still have?
Father: That we will finish. Waste is sinful and such as that would be waste. And the tax on the tea we have is already paid. Now no more questions. To bed all of you! |

Marie: *walks to store and gets the items on the list.* Oh hello Elena! Come outside! I need to talk to you. I don't want others to hear us. *Walks outside. talks in a whisper.* Mother and Father decided to not drink tea. What do you think of it? Has your family too? Father said many have. I also have a grand idea! I want to wait till we can find the others though. Let's see if we can find Kodi, Vicky, Sierra, and Charlotte. We can split up and meet at the falling down tree by the news office. Tell who you meet to bring their horse. *Walks down the main street and sees Kodi* Kodi! Marie: Everyone? May I have your attention please? I have had a wonderful idea. The reason that I had you and your horses to come here, is that I think we should start a horse association. We could call is the Young Girls Horse and Pony Association.
We can get together ever so often in the back of our woods and ride and do other things together. I have a secret that I can't tell you, this being in the open and all, but when we meet the first time in our woods I'll tell you. I would advise, since we are about the only girls in the colonies that ride the way a boy does, that you come here in clothes that disguise you as a boy, like Sierra here, so as not to cause a scandal. Bring a bit of food and an outfit for girls. If you have a maid, borrow some of her cloths as they do not have as many petticoats and they are not so huge and annoying. Also, no one must know about this, save our parents, because we may end up things that are not something people should find out about. |
