| Maggie: *I dismount and lead my Joe to the hitching rack and untack him, brush him and hose him down. I lead him to his stall and give him some grain and water and hay.* Good Boy. See ya! * I go by everyone who are talking about shows. |

| Lauren: I dismount and lead Rusty into the barn. I lead him to some cross ties, and start untacking him. I remove the saddle pad, the saddle, and the bridle. With my bridle hanging over my shoulder and my saddle pad and saddle in both arms, I carry the tack into the tack room. I place my saddle and saddle pad on my rack and place my bridle on my bridle hook. I close the door and go back to rusty. I grab the grooming box on my stool and begin to rub rusty down with my Curry comb taking nice strokes with the bristles and going carefully over to the other side and doing the same. Then I take the dandy brush and flicking the dirt off his coat. Then I take the body brush to to smooth down his hair and to get rid of any trace of dirt on his body. Then I grab my mane comb pulling out all the hair that is sticking up and smoothing the hair. Then I take my hoof pick and tap rusty's leg to let him know that he needs cleaning. He lifts his leg up and I scrape the rocks out of his hoof. Avoiding the frog each time. I put all my tools back into the grooming box and carry it back into the tack room. Then I unlatch the cross ties of his halter and Hook a lead rope and lead him to the bathing station. Me and ilovesunny walk side by side talking about the next show, I nod and chat until I reach the hose. I hook Rusty back into the cross ties and I begin taking the hose and rinsing him off to get the basic sweat off of him. Then I grab the shampoo and lather it into his coat, doing the same on the other side. Then I test the hose for warm water and I carefully spray rusty with the water. Getting the suds off of his coat. After all the suds are off his coat I grab my Sweat scraper and begin taking all the leftover water off his coat. Then I take my towel and rub him off to dry his coat. I place all the bathing tools neatly back on the bench and unhook his cross ties. I lead him past all the other riders and go back to the barn. I lead him into stall #8 and take off his lead rope. I grab his bucket and hay net and shut the barn door. I place the bucket under the faucet and turn it on. Then while Its running and quickly speed walk over to the feeding station and put one bale of hay into the hay net. Crushing and pulling the hay neatly spread out in the net. I tie a knot and sprint back to the faucet. Luckily the bucket didn't overflow so I turn off the faucet and carry the bucket and hay net back into rusty's stall. I hang up the hay net in the corner of his stall and I place the bucket on the bucket rack. I pat rusty on his neck and close the stall door and latching it. I walk over to the group of riders chatting about the show. Since I'm shy I stay out of the discussion and hear other riders talk. |
