Soulmate||Leia Stormcloud

She stared
into those
wise
kind
eyes
and a tear slipped
down
her face
and landed on
her lap
and she tried
to think
of the fun they
had had
together
but now there would be
no
together
there would only be
her
alone
because
everything had
shattered
with the words
I'm sorry
and there was no
tomorrow
no today
no yesterday
only now
because it hurt
too much
to think
and she pressed
her lips
to the forehead
of her best
friend
her soulmate
her horse
and the kind
eyes
closed
for it was a parting gift
not a hello
but a goodbye
a goodbye
to the bond
that could not
would not
be
broken
but now
it was
and inside
her heart slowly
shattered
as her horse
breathed her last
and when
the last breath
was breathed
she closed
her
eyes
and
cried
because
she had lost
her soulmate

Angel
By: hosessaddles

Angel once ran free,
with no limits,
no boundaries,
and no worries.

Angel did not know
that her true life would come,
with her one and only friend,
who stood on two legs.

Angel and her friend did everything together,
you name it,
they did it.
They could not be separated.

The day came
when Angel saw the light,
she rose up to Heaven,
and had eternal life.

Her friend was more than devastated,
more than depressed,
more than alone.
The friend did claim that she did find other horses like Angel,
but none were special like her.

To this day,
Angel's friend still claims
that Angel was the start of her heart,
her beginning,
and her everlasting friend
that she will one day see again.

April Showers Bring May Flowers
by DreamerGirl

April showers bring May flowers. Ever heard that saying? Yeah, that one. Well, today I am really disliking that saying.

Why?

Because it's true.

"Blue! Feeding time!" I called out to my horse, who was grazing in the pasture.
She galloped over as I was pouring her feed. I stepped away and my boot got stuck in mud.
"Let's get you inside, it's sloppy outside." I said to the beautiful blue roan.
After placing on her halter and lead rope, I brought her into her stall.
"I don't like the month of April. It's too wet and sloppy. Not as much sunshine, and it's definitely not very good riding weather." I started talking to Blue. She always listened, so it was nice talking to her. I stroked her forehead and she nickered, taking another bite of her food.
"Just think, we will ride in the sunshine and flowers in May. At least I have something to look forward to. May is just...28 days away!" I said sadly, knowing how far that was.
I looked out upon the rainy day, wanting to go riding, but it had started raining. It was getting a little bit chilly, so I decided that I would go inside.
"I'll be back, Blue!" I patted her, then ran to the house so I wouldn't get drenched.

29 days later...

"IT'S MAY! FINALLY! IT'S MAY!" I exclaimed as I ran out to the stable. Each day in April, I visited my beautiful Blue, took her out on the nice days, but nothing could compare to the feeling of this May, sunny day.
I looked to my right and saw a flower slightly blooming. I smiled and went to see Blue.
"How 'ya doing, girl?" Blue nickered when she saw me. Grabbing the halter, I slid it on her head, then grabbed a lead rope.
"Let's go." I tug a little and she follows. We walk out into the pasture and I go sit on the fence, after unhooking the lead rope of course.
"Over here, girl!" I made a clicking noise and she trotted over, then snorted. I laughed before getting her close enough to the fence.
Once it's just right, I jump (not literally) onto her back. Bareback riding on a warm, Spring day was perfect.
Now, I can appreciate the May warmth, sunshine, greenness -- everything, all because of April showers that brought May flowers.

The long cold days
Those cold days I would lay
I would lay down with her on those
cold cold days.

For during those cold cold days
We would lay there on the ground
snuggle up and get warm
we would get warm together
as one.

Together we would sleep together we would nap
together we were happy and satisfied!

Friends for life

Meadow hugged her new pony, Bunting. This was the start of a brand new friendship... one that would last until the end.

________________________________

Bunting whinnied. It was her 6th birthday, and today Meadow would come to the stables to celebrate with a ride. The horses in the next stall pranced and snorted. It seemed that they were excited to see Meadow too. Bunting snorted and waited. She hoped that Meadow would hurry. It was Meadow's 16th birthday today, and Bunting knew this was a very special day for both of them. Meadow would stay at the stables with her pony pals for the summer, and they would all ride their ponies and camp out. Lily the stable hand came into the barn with a wheelbarrow and shovel. She stopped at Bunting's stall first. "Hey Bunting! Happy Birthday! Today I'll clean your stall first, because today is special." She opened the stall latch and slid the door open. Then Lily hooked the lead rope to Bunting's halter and led her into the pasture. "Go graze to your heart's content, Bunting! I'll be cleaning your stall so Meadow can groom and ride you first thing." Lily whistled happily as she strolled back into the barn. Bunting ran from one end of the pasture to the next. She couldn't wait for Meadow to come!

Meadow Freeland sat on the edge of the seat. "Mom, can't you go just a little faster? I can't wait to see Bunting! It's almost been a month." Mrs. Freeland laughed. "I'm sorry dear, but I'm not going to speed." Meadow sighed and stared out the window. She tried to imagine that she was riding Bunting in the field. Suddenly, her stomach growled. "Mom, I'm hungry." Mrs. Freeland groaned playfully. "Meadow, you're always hungry!" Meadow sighed again. "Well, you're growing. It's normal for you to eat more right now. You're sixteen today, remember?" Meadow grinned. "Yes, and I'm so excited to see my friends! It's going to be so fun to go camping with our ponies. Miss Sarah is going to train us for a mini contest." Mrs. Freeland turned onto Maple Grove Stables. "Here we are, honey!" Meadow almost hurt herself by jumping off her seat. Her seat belt was still on. "Ooh! Sarah got new riding ponies!" She pushed the button on her seat belt and slid the door open. Mrs. Freeland opened her door and grabbed Meadow before she could run for the gate. "Say goodbye, dear! I'm going to miss you." Meadow turned around and hugged her mother tight. "I love you, Mom. I'm gonna miss you too." Mrs. Freeland hopped inside the car again and blew Meadow a kiss. Meadow watched tearfully as her mother drove away. "MEADOW! You're back! Oh my gosh!" The creaky old gate flung open, and Meadow had no time to turn around before she was pummeled to the ground. "Stacie! Oh, I missed you." Meadow clung to her best friend. Stacie spit out a clump of grass and dirt. "Ew. Nice to see you too." The two girls laughed. "Let's go show you off to Miss Sarah!" Stacie grabbed Meadow's arm and practically dragged her to the farm house. Miss Sarah opened the door and rushed down the steps. "Girl, we all missed you bunches! Come here." Meadow was scooped into Miss Sarah's arms. "I missed you all so much..." Meadow cried a little. "Why don't you go see Carolyn? She's in the barn, tacking Button. I'm sure you girls can't wait to ride your horses." Stacy quickly put her fingers in her ears, and Meadow squealed with excitement.

_____________________________________________
"Carrie!" Meadow ran into the barn and jumped up and down with Carolyn. "Oh my gosh, I'm so happy to see you guys." Carolyn pulled a layer of hair behind her ear and grinned a pretty white smile. "Ooh! You got your braces off!" Carrie nodded and smiled again. "You have such a pretty smile, Carrie," Meadow said. "Thanks, so do you guys. I'm so glad those things are off now.. Say, are you guys ready to ride or what? I don't want to talk about teeth anymore." Carrie laughed. "Of course we do! Come on Stacie." Stacie fumbled with her boot. "Uh, just a sec.. Ouch!" Meadow turned around. "You ok?" "Yeah, just a splinter. I'm going to tack up Xao." Meadow hurried over to Bunting's stable. "Oh, Bunting's not in here!" Meadow looked concerned. "Guys, where is she?" Everyone heard a loud whinny from the pasture. "Bunting!" Meadow rushed to the paddock and opened the gate. "Come here girl!" Bunting galloped over to Meadow and buried her head in Meadow's neck. "Good girl."
