We like to see writing that somehow includes a horse or pony, although that's not a disqualifier.
Our preference is to avoid sword & sorcery fiction or other fantasy. Our site and magazine are reality based.

There was once a princess born, but she was not a regular princess she was a horse princess. She was the foal of the Queen Goldenstorm. She was called Cloudheart she grew to be a very clever horse. Cloud as they called her was to claim her mothers throne but then an evil stallion named Wartempest 'horsenapped' the Queen and brainwashed Cloudheart.
She went through the portal to the Other world where she was a eventing horse and jumped the highest fences. Then she found a way back where she unknowingly was to claim the throne. But of course she couldn't go without snobby Juillet she wanted to go alone but no. When they got there all Juilet did was complain. She always had to complain about something. But eventually they got to Wartempest's palace in Wildpath. Cloudheart got the throne back but she needed to get her mom free and that's what she did.
When her mom was back snotty Juillet was sent back home and was happy as a dressage horse she only wanted fame. Meanwhile, in Cloudharts world she was content again and she always remembered how even though Juillet was snobby she still gave credit to her. But of course Juillet totally forgot and that was fine with her. But she did not know about the credit she was given, Queen Goldenstorm gave up her throne to Cloud and they were very content. |

Sahara Sunset
In the Sahara Desert there was a herd of horses
and every March 21 there was a round-up.Every year everyone tried to catch Sahara Sunset as she was called. Cowboy Cash and her would never be caught. But everyone dreamed. One day as I looked out on the range and saw her she was gorgeous she looked so happy out in the desert. But the men were after her so I went up to Sahara and jumped on her back!! Everyone was amazed with me no one had ever done that before thankfully I got the men to stop. I knew in my heart that she belonged in the desert. |

Once there was a little stallion. His name was
Arion. But he did not think he was fit for a name like Arion. Arion's mother knew he was good enough for his name. Arion was a light grey and was absolutely dashing. One day his mother Sleipnir said "do you know why I named you Arion?" Arion answered "No". Sleinir said " I named you Arion because Arion is a strong Greek name and, I know that you will be a strong horse one day."
......
5 years later Arion was a very strong horse indeed he had mated a mare named Asta and they named their foal Atlas. And they told him " One day soon Atlas we will tell you what your name means one day soon. |

Once there was a mare named Astarte. She was pure black. Her mate's name was Hiba meaning a gift from God. He was a sleek and slender bay. Both looked so elegant yet so wild. When Astarte started going into foal Hiba was always there for her. They named their foal Hussien which meant little beauty.

When Hussien started having problems,Hiba and Astarte knew that they needed human help. So one round up they let themselves be caught. Even now some still picture thier manes and tails flowing in the wind.
