A few days later Mandy gets a call from the vet. Mystery is OK. She had coliced, but they treated her in time. The vet says that because the colic was very bad, they had to call in extra staff members to help. The grand total is $5000. Mandy's relief suddenly turns to unbelief. She doesn't have that money, and she doesn't want to call her parents for a loan. The vet says they can give her 30 days to come up with the money. Mandy takes Mystery home in the trailer and sits in her stall with her, petting her and asking her what they should do. Mandy decides to try and lease Mystery off, get a few extra shifts at work, and sell things she doesn't need. At the end of the first week, all she has is 300 dollars. She becomes discouraged. That night, she places an ad for Mystery online, nearly positive no one would be interested. But when she wakes up in the morning, she has an email from someone looking to buy Mystery for 5000 dollars! She knows Mystery is worth that and decides she will sell if it seems like a good fit. She decides to visit the family looking to buy Mystery, an address that is only 5 miles away from her own house.
