Fun Fact: Did you know that the wise men who visited Jesus didn't come until Jesus was a toddler? I learned that a while back (a few years ago) and now it bugs me when people add wise men to the nativity scenes cuz they weren't even there! :\ XD |

Well, there are many reasons why the wise men wouldn't have been there. Like, they came from far away and if the star didn't show up until Jesus was born, they wouldn't have enough time to make it to the birth. And they went to King Herod first, so that adds to the trip. (the king lived in Jerusalem..not Bethlehem, so more traveling!) Another thing is this: "After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem." (Matthew 2:1) Notice that is says AFTER Jesus was born. "On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh."
(Matthew 2:11) Notice that that verse says HOUSE and not stable. (Jesus was born in a stable) "Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared." So Herod found out when the star had appeared, then announced that every male child 2 years and under to be killed. Notice how he said 2 years old in scripture. :)
So those are just some things that say when the wise men actually came. My mom showed me some resources in the Bible a while back and that's how I found these specific thing out. :D |
