Bryan: *I refill the stalls with fresh water and then go get a drink myself. I hear something near the barn and I go outside. I hear clanking, like a horse is trying to get out of the stall. I run in the barn and I see a snake. The horse closest to the snake is rearing and trying to get out of the stall. I grab a stick to try to hit the snake. Before I can do so, it bites the horse in the leg. I get the snake out of the barn. I grab my phone and call Jessica*
Jessica: *I hear my phone ring, I grab it and see that it is Bryan calling. I answer it* Hello, this is Jessica.
Bryan: Jessica, we had a snake in the barn and it bit one of the horses in the leg. I don't know whose horse it is though.
Jessica: Oh no! I will be there in about 10 minutes.
Bryan: OK!
Jessica: Bye. *I hang up. I purchase the feed then find the girls* Get in the trucks. A horse got bit by a snake at the barn. *I text Abigail*
Abigail: *I hurry out of the store and get in my truck*
Ashley: *I am worried about Lightning and go to the truck*

Jessica: It is about 3 minutes. We are almost there. *I pull in and park* Bryan! What horse was it? *I run into the barn*
Bryan: It was this one. *I point to a bay horse with a black mane and tail*
Ashley: *gasps* No! Lightning! * has worry in her voice. I rub his neck *
Jessica: He's going to be ok Ashley.
Ashley: * sniffs*

Jessica: I'll call the vet. *I dial the vet's number* Hello this is Jessica from Almost Home stables. We had a horse bitten by a snake in the leg. Can you have someone here? *vet talks* Thank you. Goodbye
Ashley, he said that he will be here in 5 minutes.
Ashley: Thanks Jessica! *I pat Lightning's neck* |

Jessica: Ashley, you can stay here while the vet is here. As for the rest of you, you can go to the dorms, hang out with your horses, or explore. *looks at watch* It is 3:30, so we have 2 and a half hours until dinner.
Ashley: Ok.
Jessica: There's the vet.
Vet: *hops out of truck and walks to the barn* Hi Jessica, I'm Dr. James Peterson. You said that there is a snake bite?
Jessica: Nice to meet you Dr. Peterson. Yes, this horse right here. * I walk to Lightning* He got bit on his front left leg.
Vet: *I open stall door and examine his leg* I'm pleased to inform you that it's not poisonous.
Ashley: *smiles*
Vet: *grabs wrap out of bag* I will wrap his leg in this. You will need to change it in the morning. He will be fully able to ride in about 1 day or 2. You need to take him in the paddock twice a day and just walk him around a couple times.
Ashley: *smiles* Thanks!
Jessica: Thank you so much! *shakes vet's hand*
Vet: Glad to help! *I get in truck and drive away*
Ashley: Well that is good news! We should walk him now. I'm glad he will be healed in time for lessons! *I grab the lead rope and halter and bring him in the paddock*
Abigail: *I follow Ashley*
Ashley: *I walk Lightning around a few times then bring him back in the stall*
Abigail: *I come back to the stall with Ashley* |
