Abigail galloped up the hill on Poprocks. The wind flipping her red hair behind her as the hilltop started to come closer and closer. The red roan stretched out her legs and landed softly with each stride. On the top of the hill Abigail slowed Poprocks to a trot. they circled at the top of the hill to cool out. Abigail’s tweed coat was already making her sweat. “Where’s Lily?” said Abigail impatiently. The flag race was part of the Henrickton Pony Palooza. The early saturday sun beamed on Abigail’s face. She scanned around the hill but a tall, blonde haired girl on a Dappled Grey was no where to be seen. Abigail was waiting by point 5 out of 10 and her team blue was ahead by 3 marks. Suddenly a white figure appeared at the end of the trail. Lily in her Navy Pinstriped Coat came galloping as fast as her horse could possibly go. Tielar, not slowing for a minute, came rushing up. “Sorry, Tielar tripped and I was worried he was lame, Kayla is at the next point, hurry!” cried Lily trotting down the hill to point 8. Abigail circled Poprocks and flew down the hill. The pot holed fields were coming up and Abigail had to be sure to stay to the outside. She could barely see Kayla on her bay pony Minty at the end of the field and ready to race down the next leg to point 7 where Roncy would be waiting. Abigail slowed to a canter to preserve her horses energy. The beginning of the race was a starter, so a Palooza staff member, with the flag. Team mates had to decide the most efficient way to pass the flag. When you pass the flag you run to your next stop or if your done, you run next to the current flag runner. 4 people per team, 3 teams, its on. “Kayla!” cried Abigail getting Kayla’s attention. The slightly tanned girl whipped her head around and took the flag. Abigail knew that she had to be at point 9 which was about half a mile away. She circled Poprocks so Kayla could launch out. Minty was trotting and shot like a rocket into the woods. Dirt flying behind her like the ground was deteriorating into thin air. Abigail squeezed the sides of Poprocks and the mare instantly shot forward. Going right instead of straight like Kaya, Abigail was making sure that she didn’t get lost. She squeezed the sides of her horse so that she and Poprocks wouldn’t miss a beat. A 18” coup appeared in her path, she knew since she was in Advanced Flag Runners, she would have to jump it. “4…3…2…1…Up!” counted Abigail before the jump. At just the right moment Poprocks leaned back on his haunches and flew up over the coup, soaring over the jump and landing without losing a single stride. The next point was insight and she could see Kayla running up to Roncy at point 7, and Roncy barely look at Kayla as she took the flag and bolted to Lily at point 8. She knew that Kayla and Lily were both done, cause both were trotting their horses behind Lily. Abigail could see that Roncy was only minutes away from Lily and Abigail wasn’t at point 9 yet. At last Abigail was at the tree with a bright cheerful blue ribbon on it. The Tree stood on a hill with a hill that Abigail had to run down to the colorful, ribbon and decorated Palooza grounds. The equestrian center of Henrickton was surprisingly bright and wonderful compared to the few boarders otherwise. Suddenly Abigail felt a tap on her shoulder and swung around to see Lily with a stern look on her face. Abigail took the flag and gained speed by trotting in circles around the tree to launch down the hill. The farthest point of her circle from the bank was where her canter started. Abigail sat deep in the saddle, expecting Poprocks to run down the hill, into the field and to the starting point. “Woah” cried Abigail as she clung for balance on Poprocks. The mare jumped the first part and slid the second part of the bank. Abigail, thrown forward, dropped the flag in a bush at the bottom of the bank. She did the sideways vaulting trick and reached for the flag without slowing. Abigail hunched her back like a racer, squeezed her legs and shot across the field. The red team had just made it and green was still left behind. She shot over the finish line, holding onto the mane that she had neatly braided in the wee hours of the morning, was now loose and untidy. Abigail joined the blue team of 4 and did a quad-five with them. “They are tallying up the scores, green team just made it.” said Kayla dismounting her tired horse. The team dismounted and grabbed body brushes to groom out the sweat marks. “In 3rd place for Advanced Flag Race we have Green team, Sarah Twine, Mackenzie Peterson, Hannah Lay and Thomas Jones” the announcer boomed out of the speaker. The crowd cheered at the accomplished team. Sarah had wished to be with Whisper Wind girls however, all participants from around Henrickton were mixed up, so it was a coincidence that Kayla,Roncy,Abigail and Lily were on the same team. “In 2nd place we have :
Green Team! Ava Twine, Lucy Woodhaven, Joy Peterson and Olivia Brake!” the crowd cheered louder. Miss Jessica hugged Ava so tight. “Which means theres only one more place for us and thats…” said Roncy, building tension.
“In first place we have : Blue Team! Lily Fay, Kayla Price, Roncy Vaux and Abigail Johnson!” the loud speaker boomed with exiting news. The local reporters were taking pictures of the girls, interviewing and shaking hands with them. Miss Jessica,Lily and Sarah took the tired horses on the trailer and back to Whisper Wind. “Wow, First, We already have second in Drill Team so the Jumper Ring should be a snap!” said Kayla grabbing her duffle bag. The girls had changed into summer attire, shorts, t-shirts and sandals. “Well remember, even though jumper looks easy, we still have to keep our horses balanced and in key” reminded Joy, packing her bag.
“Oh Joy” giggled Lucy and took a sip of water. The 2 girls were oddly different yet stayed best friends. Joy liked to ride well, have excellent equitation even on trail rides. Yet Lucy liked to ride with good Equitation, she loves chilling and having fun on horse back even if her Eq wasn’t perfect. The 9 Whisper Wind Girls were entered in Advanced 16 and under for jumper, and if at least 6 placed, the farm would win an award. Abigail said her last goodbye and gave her last hug and jumped into her moms car. “So mom, any info on the jump course?” asked Abigail strapping in. “Yes, 10 jumps all 2 feet or bigger” said her mom starting the car. “Phew” whistled Abigail and slowly became drowsy and she suddenly found herself, asleep from the competition.

The Big One
Abigail’s Polo shirt felt cooling compared to the heavy tweed coat and mens shirt. The jumping competition was huge. Plenty of older girls compared to the number of little girls. Sadly, Kayla had to duck out because Minty came up lame from the harsh gallop. It wasn’t life threatening, but needed rest. Abigail began to trot up and down the green warm up ring. Suddenly, the microphone boomed:” Starting off the Intermediate 16 and under division, we have Joy Peterson on Butterfly” there was a static and then silence. Abigail headed for the sand ring of the local Henrickton equestrian center. She saw Joy trot in on the beautiful palomino, Butter. Calm and relaxed was what she felt, Joy saluted to the judges and circled at a beautiful rhythmic canter.
(Switching to Joy’s POV) Heels down, chest up,3…2…1 Up! Butter leaped over the red and white gate. Butter landed softly and turned to the next jump, a roll top with a pole on top, about 2,3. Joy felt her hair net fall off behind her but this wasn’t hunters, so it didn’t matter. Joy looked at the big metallic timer and squeezed her legs to make Butter lengthen his stride. The palomino tried to leap over the big roll top, but after the speed up he chipped in too close and Joy could hear the pole tumble onto the sand. Joy sat up, around the turn looking for the big castle jump, 3ft, Joy, instead of lengthening, doubled his stride at the right moment and Up and over! The 3 foot wall was behind them and seemed tinier from this angle. The next jump was bushes with a neat brown pole on top. Joy slid her hands up Butters neck and the palomino just grabbed onto the floor and ripped it up as he took off over the jump. The next 2 jumps he took with ease. Joy looked around for a big red and yellow with flowers gate. Joy saw the jump and pressed with her leg to form a nice even outside turn. Butter lunged forward at the sight of the jump and Joy had to calm him down so he wouldn’t chip or leap like a deer. Butter took the jump at an angle, but that didn’t seem to effect him because he just swung his hind end behind him over the fence and leaped over the big fence swiftly. There was now a combination then a turn around the short side and the last jump. Joy felt Butter speed up but a combination was very hard to execute on an uneven stride. Joy finally was close enough to count. 3…2…1…UP…1…2…UP and land.
Butter didn’t miss a beat, the palomino snorted with pride and headed for the corner and around the turn. Joy was filled with……Joy! The last jump, a 3,6 oxer. Joy’s heart missed one beat and finally realized she could jump it. She let Butter double his stride so he would have enough to get over the jump. Joy felt the wind sweeping her hair back like a brush, Butter was in the moment of suspension above the jump and time seemed to stand still for just a second. And land! Joy trotted and walked out of the ring excitedly.”Joy that was awesome!” cried Abigail patting Butter’s neck. “Lets wait for your results” said Roncy checking her girth and mounting.
“Joy Peterson on Butterfly, 2,65 seconds and 4 faults. Joy remember that one pole that got knocked down and cost her her 0 faults. But she was happy with Butter and herself. Roncy circled Destiny in front of the gate, saluted to the judges, and they were off. (Roncy’s POV)
Roncy went for the first jump, the gate. Destiny seemed to have turned into a pegasus. Destiny’s strides were fast but not running. Roncy also seemed to on instinct know what and how without thinking. The next 2 jumps seemed like nothing. Then the jumps started getting bigger. Roncy had to think to make Destiny slow down. Plenty of horses like to speed up at jumps but big strides are harder to count. Roncy looked at the 4th fence, squeezed her legs to Destiny’s sides, and the mare rocked back and over. Roncy could see the 5th and 6th fence looming over her. Roncy let Destiny go a bit making sure the strides were even. Destiny leaped flat instead of arched, making Roncy’s job a little easier. 7th fence, the nice one with the red and yellow came up to them quickly. Unaware of it, Roncy got out of the saddle when Destiny was leaping over, the right time and Roncy checked, the right place. Roncy turned and looked at the combo. Roncy remembered the trick Lily showed her. “The horse knows when to jump, you just show them how” Roncy had to let Destiny go. In-between the jumps she felt Destiny wobble but Roncy steadied her and flew over the next jump. Roncy went around the turn, remembering the big oxer. Sit,Sit,Sit,Sit,Sit,Sit,Squeeze Up! said Roncy in her head, hoping it was neatly behind her. And it was! Roncy let out a sigh of relief and trotted neatly out of the ring. “That was awesome!” said Abigail patting Destiny. “You jumped clear!” said Joy smiling as she brushed out Butter. The palomino pony nuzzled Abigail for treats as Abigail walked by to go grab Poprock’s from the barn. She saw Lily hurrying to get Tielar all tacked up for the round. Along with Abigail,Roncy and Joy, they had Lucy and Lily also in their class. Abigail pulled the Strawberry Roan out of the stall and into the cross ties. Abigail grabbed a curry comb and brushed out all of the shavings that were embedded in Poprock’s mane. During this time, the other barns were going, Lucy would be the next for Whisper Wind. Abigail grabbed her cotton white fitted saddle pad, and the saddle she had recently bought from the Tack Store. Poprock’s pawed impatiently as he saw others walk by him. Not just Palooza entries, but also boarders and trail riders. Abigail snapped on her helmet and led Poprock out of the stable out into the beaming sun outside. Abigail checked her girth and mounted. Poprock had been exercised this morning but had been put back because Abigail was jumping last. Abigail watched a girl named Madeline Hartley jump a tiny dappled grey pony named Rhythm Up Beat. Abigail looked closer and saw Madeline was wearing a ribbon on her arm meaning ‘schooling’. Abigail couldn’t believe the pony was green, this pony was a dashing jumper. The tiny little legs carried the brown haired girl over the same course she had seen the other girls jump. When the results came out, ‘1,56 seconds and 0 faults’ Abigail knew she had to work to get a clean round and better time. Abigail was jumping last. Madeline had been the last non Whisper Wind girl to jump, leaving only Lily and Lucy before. Abigail looked at the Score Keepers cards that were up on the display. She saw other then Madeline, there was Mackenzie,Hannah and Thomas who jumped, but no one had beaten the tiny 11 year old. Abigail walked up to Madeline who was sitting on her pony watching the 13 and under class. “Hi!” said Abigail trotting up next to her. Madeline turned to Abigail smiling. “Hey” said Madeline looking focused on something else. “Your an amazing jumper, who do you ride with?” asked Abigail. “Oh, my trainer moved out 2 years ago, since then I have been just using what she told me to improve my jumping” said Madeline turning her focus as the rider exited the ring. “Well, you have it in the bag, any tips for me? I’m a hunter jumper rider most of the time” said Abigail, running her fingers through Poprock’s mane. “Oh well, study the course very precisely, watch others, like look for spots to run and spots to collect your horse and the last jump, the Oxer, its hard even for me.” said Madeline, tightening her helmet.
Abigail started worrying. If such a great Jumper thought the biggest jump was hard, how was Abigail who has barely taken 1-2 lessons on jumping, going to make it over the big oxer.
“Any tricks or tips for the oxer?” asked Abigail, checking her rein length.
“Just, keep the horse steady but let the horse decide, I’ve trained my pony to know the length when I tell her what it is, for instance, Triple bar, double bar, single, by just whispering it to her” said Madeline, looking helpful. Abigail whipped her head around at the sound of “Lucy Woodhaven riding Out of this world” that the speaker boomed. “I have to go my friends jumping” said Abigail turning Poprock. Madeline waved goodbye and nodded.
Abigail got there just in time to see Lucy circling for the first jump. [Switching to Lucy’s POV]
Lucy looked at the gate, the pretty flowers look adorable. Nexus, the black Gelding lunged forward over the gate, arching his neck and tucking in his knees. Lucy held onto his mane and looked around the turn for her next jump, the roll top with the pole. 4…3…2…1…Up and over! Nexus soared over the roll top, sweeping the little hill under his hooves. Lucy looked around for the 3 foot wall that loomed over the ponies. Lucy did what Joy did, doubled her stride making Nexus faster. Joy looked through Nexus’s ears as he swept the wall with two poles on top right behind him. Lucy felt confident with the wind making her hair flap like a flag. The 18” jump, the bush with the poles seemed easy and tiny. Lucy suddenly heard a bash, metal trash cans tipped over and tumbled to the ground. Lucy felt Nexus spook and sweep sideways. Lucy tried to level him with the tiny little 18” but Nexus came crooked and scared making him hit the brown pole with his hind legs and Lucy’s heart sank as she heard the pole hit the smooth arena. But Lucy didn’t lose her confidence, she just squeezed her legs to Nexus’s sides and the horse went faster. The next 2 jumps, Lucy took off-stride but it didn’t matter. She looked for the red and yellow flower gate and spotted the 2 foot jump. Lucy let Nexus take this one. Nexus spotted the jump and concentrated hard on making it over. Lucy got out of the saddle as Nexus soared over the gate and heard no poles on the ground when she landed. The combination came up to them quicker then Lucy expected. 3…2…1…UP…1…2…UP and out! The black gelding just soared over both jumps and didn’t miss one beat. Lucy’s heart lifted as soon as she saw the oxer. The big jumps were Lucy’s favorite. Lucy didn’t count strides cause Nexus just knew those jumps. Nexus took a big leap and soared over the big Oxer, tucking his knees and arching his neck over the jump made Lucy smile with pride. They had jumped with only 4 faults! That one pole didn’t matter to Lucy, Nexus did amazing and thats all that mattered. Lucy exited the ring and looked at the score board. The announcer boomed :”Lucy Woodhaven on Out of this World, 2,58 minutes and 4 faults.” “Thats awesome!” cried Lily who was swinging herself into Tielar’s saddle. “It was awesome Lucy” said Roncy, beaming. [Switching to Abigail’s POV]
Abigail looked at Lily, the blonde girl seemed to know it all. Every jump looked so elegant, yet so fast. Abigail payed more attention to the 13 and under ring until the last jumps that Lily was jumping, the Combo and the Oxer. The Combo looked amazing. Lily took it nearly better than Madeline. The Oxer came up. Abigail watched as Lily lengthened the stride before the jump and shortened it in between and lengthened it as he landed. “Lily Fay on Bow Tie, 1,58,0 faults.” is what Abigail loved to hear. It was Abigail’s turn. Abigail sat up tall, saluted to the judges and began heading for the first jump. Abigail leaped over the gate, remembering to control the stride because Poprock will make it too short. The second, third and fourth fence were perfect. Speedy, yet elegant. The 5th and 6th fences were where she cut it close with take-off, a bit off stride. The red and yellow gate seemed to literally slide underneath them. Now came the hard fences. Poprock snorted with Pride and looked at the first of the Combo. 3…2…1…UP…1…2…UP and out! Abigail was beaming with Pride and looked at the oxer. The big 3 foot, triple bar seemed high but Abigail just lunged forward. Suddenly, Abigail had a big chestnut horse in the way. A horse with reins over his head, saddle slipped to the side leaped over the railing and into Poprock’s way. Abigail went ghost white at the sight of this horse. The chestnut reared up and snorted with white eyes that were almost white to the core. Abigail looked around for an escape around the horse but the chestnut came up to meet them and nipped at Poprock. Poprock lost it. He galloped straight forward and refused at the base of the jump. Abigail let out a sigh of relief but lost her breath as Poprock made an effort to get over the jump. Abigail fell off to the side, into the Oxer as Poprock leapt over it. Abigail heard a gasp and saw a strawberry roan on the floor. Then everything turned black.

Back in the Saddle
Abigail woke up in a white looking room. Machines beeped and hummed around her. She felt cold and weak when she woke up. She finally recognized Roncy and Kayla who were sitting in chairs in the corner. Suddenly Roncy whispered over to Kayla and they both walked up to Abigail. “What happened?” asked Abigail weakly. “Poprock spooked at that chestnut remember, you fell into the jump as Poprock tried to jump it.” said Kayla. Abigail suddenly remembered the dashing chestnut in her way and trying to get to the last jump. “Will I be okay?” asked Abigail sitting up. “Of course, minor concussion and you just bruised a couple bones” said Kayla.
“You should be fine in a week but you have to stay here” said Roncy. “And, Poprock?” asked Abigail worried. “Oh he’s fine, he may have fallen but he just pulled a tendon very weakly, should be fine in a couple of days, you really got lucky Abigail” said Roncy smiling. Abigail looked over at the ginormous bandage sitting on her shoulder. A nurse walked into the room to tell Roncy and Kayla their parents were here. Roncy and Kayla said good bye and left. “Roncy is right, you were pretty lucky” said a familiar voice. Abigail turned to see…………Madeline! “What are you doing here Madeline?”
asked Abigail looking at Madeline with a cast on her foot and an ice pack on her head.
“Well, remember that chestnut? He was my friends. We board at the same barn and he got loose. After you fell off I dashed in to catch him, he pawed and gave me a mild concussion and sprained my leg.” said Madeline. “So who’s horse was that any way?” asked Abigail adjusting her bed. “Lisa, she is my friend when I need to practice jumping, she’s a lot older and is now training that pony for a little girl at my barn” said Madeline.
“Whats the horses name?” “Oh, Strucker, he’s a pretty wild horse” answered Madeline.
“How did he get loose?” asked Abigail, getting more curious.
“Oh, so me and Lisa were grooming Cadenza and Strucker when a groom dropped a water bucket next to us, it spooked Strucker and he ripped off the cross ties when he bolted.” said Madeline, sounding a bit ashamed. “So how do you jump so well?” asked Abigail trying to change the subject. “I was able to teach myself to ride a neighbors horse bareback, then a trainer was passing by in her car when she saw me riding in the paddock, she invited me for a lesson on this horse, which happens to be the horse you saw me riding, Cadenza. I learned to jump when I was 8 and by the time i was 10 I was doing 3 foot classes. Then my trainer moved away, I’ve just been boarding at a new facility down town, and just riding” explained Madeline cheerfully. ‘You really are a great rider,” said Abigail fondly.
“You are too”

2 weeks later……

“Abigail hurry up were going to be late!” shouted Roncy at the end of the stable Isle. It was Abigail’s first lesson since she had fallen off at the Palooza. Abigail had to miss the ceremony of the Whisper Wind girls winning the show. But Kayla and Roncy had made sure that she got to hang her ribbon in the hospital room. Kayla was hurrying to tack up Minty and Roncy was throwing her tack onto her arms and shoulders. Abigail had just finished brushing Poprock, the pony seemed to be very fond of having Abigail ride him instead of the exercise riders. Abigail threw on her helmet and led Poprock down the Isle to the outdoor ring. She saw Miss Jessica building jumps. Lucky for Abigail they didn’t go past 2 foot 3 so Abigail could slowly rebuild Poprock’s jumping. “Short trot!” commanded Miss Jessica. Abigail squeezed her legs into Poprock’s sides, and the tiny little pony began prancing at a trot and keeping his gait nice and level.”Abigail, keep your eyes up, I know Poprock’s is cute” said Miss Jessica sweetly. Abigail looked forward and saw a big jump that Lily had been working Tielar over. Abigail kicked to Poprock’s sides to go past it. The tiny roan kept forward at a balanced canter. “Trot Trot!” commanded Abigail. Poprock slowed to a flat trot and shook his head. “Abigail, please reverse” said Miss Jessica as Abigail was about to run straight into Minty. “Sorry” murmured Abigail and crossed the arena at a trot. Kayla gave Abigail a weird expression but shrugged her shoulders and continued. Abigail kept trotting. She let out a sigh of relief when she was asked to canter.
Poprock lept forward, arching his neck and collecting his hind end. Cantering was so much better than trotting. “Where you can, do a change of hands across the diagonal” said Miss Jessica checking her phone. Abigail sat up around the turn and turned early to go across the diagonal. Hurrying to catch up to Kayla and Roncy, who had already done the turn, Abigail sat down and asked for a lead change. Poprock although just shook his head and continued on the wrong lead. The turn was coming up to meet them and Abigail was on the wrong lead. She sat in the saddle hoping that Poprock would slow down and just do a simple change but the pony just sped up and continued at a gallop. They past Destiny and Minty. Miss Jessica had gone to check on Ava and her homework. “Slow down!” cried Roncy slowing Destiny to a halt. “I’m trying!” cried Abigail. Kayla to had also stopped. Abigail had only one choice, run Poprock to the fence, a horse would never run into a fence, they will stop. Abigail used all her might to turn Poprock across the Ring to the fence on the other side. The horse didn’t respond or slow one bit, the fence was coming and Poprock kept running.”She’s gonna jump!” cried Roncy. Abigail stuck her hand under Poprock silky mane and made a conclusion : This wasn’t Poprock! Poprock’s mane is a mess, sticky and tangled. “Watch out!” cried Kayla dismounting. Abigail looked forward to see the arena fence coming up to them. The horse Abigail was on, didn’t waver for a minute, the horse rocked back on his haunches and leapt over the 3 foot 6 inch fence surrounding the out door. Abigail looked up and saw herself on this horse, flying over the fence. Instead of being scared, Abigail felt amazing. The horse landed on the other side and slowed down. Roncy and Kayla were both smiling as they led their horses to the edge of the Arena where Abigail was sitting. “What, happened?” asked Abigail dismounting. “For one, thats not Poprock, thats Overa” said Roncy. “And second, you just jumped a fence bigger then you fell off on” said Kayla. “But why?” asked Abigail. “We knew you would never jump again, or at least not that big, we know you wouldn’t show it but we knew you were scared so we set up this with Miss Jessica.” said Roncy. “This is Overa, a little paint, some flour and boom we have another Poprock.” said Kayla holding up white hands. “You guys did this for me? So while I was gone you guys were planning this weren’t you” said Abigail smiling. “And waiting for paint to dry” added Roncy. “You guys are awesome” said Abigail hugging both of them. Overa whinnied as if to say : I helped too! Abigail patted Overa on the nose. “Yes you did too!"

My poem:
By Easter9752

Hush little EQ kid, don’t say a word
Mommy’s gonna buy you a warmblood herd

In the season after Spring,
They’ll all enter the show-ring

If those warmblood don’t win the class,
Mommy’ll make sure they don’t come in last

If your family then goes broke,
Don’t worry it just must be a joke

If your family’s money does pull,
You’ll make sure their bank account is full

Then you’ll all take a trip to Dover,
Spend so much, you will fall over

Do not worry, you are smart
Your life will soon be a walk in the park

You and your horse’ll be jumpin' up an down
You will win the riding crown

cuddlypup632: my story is called: African Horse
Chapter 1: All about me

Hi my name is Kayla, and I love to ride my horse, Blackie, around town. I live in Africa and am very poor. we count on our cattle and Blackie to keep us going. I ride him around, and he used to be a wild stallion, and now we have the whole herd, because otherwise they wouldn't have a leader. We have plenty of foals, and we let them roam free, but they work for us when they are old enough. They harvest food, and we eat some and sell the rest. Every horse works hard, except for Blackie, who I take for rides, and buy all the seeds and try to get more well selling crops.
Chapter 2:The Herd of Cattle
I was out riding, when Blackie stopped dead. I was confused, but then I saw it, a whole herd of cattle. I leaned down over Blackie's neck, and whispered in his ears," Come on lets go, they can really help us.' So we set of slowly and quietly and the herd didn't even stir when we were about 10 metres away from them. I coaxed the herd towards us and Blackie started to go towards the back of the herd, so he could herd it up. We ran back home, with the cattle surrounding us. When we got there, mum and dad were waiting for me. "What have you brought home with you Missy?" dad asked me, surprised. "What does it look like!" I called back. "She got a herd of cattle for us! Great find Sweetie!" mum said. "That will really help! We will have to send you to find a herd every day!" I let the cattle into the pen and went inside to talk with mum and dad. "I didn't do it, honestly, Blackie found them, and herded them here." Then I walked out and went to feed Blackie.

Up and Over
By: PegasusLove013

Chapter 1:
"Come on you can do it, Artemis! Just go up and over the fence!" I urge her forward and over the fence. "Up!" I say right before she jumps. ANd as she's Jumping, "and Oover!" She galloped after the fence. Oh, goodness. Here we go. She loves to gallop. Must be the Thoroughbred in her. She has a black and white Overo pinto pattern and is a Thoroughbred X Paint. I love here to death because she has everything: A heart, speed, power, and stamina. WHat more can an eventer ask? "Easy does it!" I pat her. She slows down to trot.

We walk out of the ring and to the Cross Country course. "Let's do this again," She is perfect for cross country. She jumps every jump and I praise her after every jump. "Good girl!" I exclaim after the last jump. "Good, good, girl!" I cool her off, untack her, and turn her out.
