1: I don't really know, but isn't it the quarter horse? Here in Australia, we use Australian Stock Horses (ASH)
2: DKY
3: DKY

Sorry I don't know that much. I'm more interested in jumping, but I did ride western style a few months ago, and it was fun. I also have a question.

What are the differences between western style and English?

Thanks.
Grace

1: What kinds of horses are used for most Western activities?
I would say Quarter horses are the most used breed in western activities although any breed of horse can be used

2: Write a non-timed event in the blank.
western pleasure? DKY

3: What type of horse would you use for barrel racing and why?

A smallish nimble horse that could easily turn around the barrels without knocking them over, because you get penalized for every barrel you knock over. I don't really know but that's my guess.

I think Western style riding is where the saddle has a horn, and also western-style riding is more for like, just riding, actually for herding cattle originally I believe. And I believe English riding is more of jumping, and the saddle doesn't have a horn to hold on to (I think). Someone please correct me if any of these statements are incorrect. Thanks! Hope this helps!

Thank you guys so much for doing the quiz! I will be posting the winner soon and sending them their prize. To answer your question, TheHorseRiders, western is basically the style of riding cowboys used to use. The western saddle has a deep seat with a horn. English riding is what riders in Europe did. It's saddle is not as deep as the western saddle and it does not have a horn. Thanks so much for that question also! I love English riding too!

For one of my fist times I rode English! The cinch was SO easy. It was a just a buckle! I wish western saddles had buckle cinches!

I cantered for one of the first times today! I cantered in a lesson about 2 weeks ago, but I only went about one length of the arena because I was kind of freaked out :) It was so exciting! I have also meet a horse that I have fallen in love with. Her name in Bugsy, she is a bay. I'm not sure her breed or anything, but my guess is that she's a quarter horse. She does not actually belong to the person I take lessons from, but we think that there is a good chance that she will be up for sale within the next year, and my instructor says that if she is for sale, I should buy her because we get along so well. I think my parents are actually considering it too!!!
