Chestnut Hill Boarding School & Stables

Gemma: Thank you, but Lady doesn't need a stall, she sleeps in the pasture, she's very clostrophobic, unless its a trailer, she likes watching the road go by.

Kierra: Same with Khon.

Ali: I will need three student demonstrations this semester and Amy Fleming will come and do a demonstration too. March. How would you like to do a demonstration? I saw that you ride Sidesaddle. Could you do a demonstration on that? And Kylie and Lilly, How about I put you on a list for next semester? Gemma and Kierra, I was thinking towards showing and talking about how you trained your rescue horse to trust you, and how you, Gemma, trained your horse for all the championships. Okay! Anyone who wants to can come for a tour around the stables, with me or you can unpack and get to know each other.

Okay so here are the The Horses. The Horses that someone has already been asigned to have a little ~*~ by their name.

Name: Ash
Breed: Quarterhorse
Gender: Gelding
History: In book 4, Ash goes to Chestnut Hill to be barrel racer star Belle Carter's mount for giving demonstrations and in the barrel racing challenge. He is famous and well-known in the Western-riding world.

Name: Bluegrass ~*~
Breed: Warmblood
Color: Blue Roan
Gender: Gelding
History: Bluegrass is Lynsey's spoiled, pampered pony. Lynsey knows what she's doing and isn't mean to her horse, so she doesn't act quite like Ashley Grant except for being mean, but Lynsey is mean in a nice kind of way... if that makes sense. Blue is a people-pony who is willing to please. He is the best bred horse there at Chestnut Hill and Lynsey makes sure that everyone knows it. But Blue is the best pony money can buy and the Harrisons have money. Blue is amazingly talented.

Name: Buttercup
Breed: Palomino
Color: Palomino (color breed)
Gender: Mare
History: Joy Richards rode Buttercup in the tryouts for the Junior Jumping Team in the first book. Sadly they got eight faults and didn't make it.

Name: Colorado
Breed: Buckskin
Color: Buckskin (color breed)
History: Colorado was was from the west, hence the name Colorado. Lani loved him from the start because he was the horse that she used in the riding placement test. Lani also rode Colorado in the fundraiser for Adams house "Rodeo Day." They came within three and a half seconds of a professional rider. Colorado is a challenge and that is also part of the reason Lani loves him. To rise him you need to use your legs and seat more to control him. Colorado is a one rider-type horse.

Name: Falcon ~*~
Breed: ?
Color: Dark Bay
Gender: Stallion
History: Falcon was in #4 when Lani was hurt and "Honey" was riding him. He's a calm horse and is a good schooling horse for all levels. Since "Honey" changes horses most of the time he's not in it much.

Name: Foxy Lady ~*~
Breed: Arabian
Color: Bay
Gender: Mare
History: Was bought in the 2nd book and doesn't appear that much. Is in book 5 and 2.

Name: Gent
Breed: Thoroughbred
Color: Grey
Gender: Male
History: Gent is Caleb Smith's pretty gray horse. His real name is Pageant's Pride, but all his barn mates call him Gent. He is a thoroughbred.

Name: Hardy
Breed: ?
Color: Chestnut
Gender: Gelding
History: Hardy was a school horse from the start and isn't one of the main horses in the series. Malory used him until she was allowed to ride Tybalt. Little is known about Hardy, although we know that he is a gentle horse. Tybalt injured him right before a competition which put him out of the running so Malory was assigned to Foxy Lady but ended up taking Tybalt. Hardy is sweet, and part of the reason the Malory likes him is because he is not such an easy study and she could build an understanding with him.

Name: Hopeful Rose ~*~
Breed: Appaloosa cross
Color: Strawberry roan
Gender: Mare
History: Hopeful Rose is barely mentioned in the books, but I'm pretty sure that she is a good jumper, and tries her heart out for Paige. She is owned by Paige, so is not ridden by other students.

Name: Hunter
Breed: Thoroughbred
Color: Black
History: Does not belong to Chestnut Hill, but to Helena Macey who attends Wycliffe. Hunter is a show jumper and was her owner, Helena's, mount when she was shortlisted for the Cavendish riding program.

Name: Kingfisher
Breed: ?
Color: Bay
Gender: Gelding
History: Kingfisher is Honey's favorite horse until Moonlight Minuet comes along. Honey still rides Kingfisher but secretly would love to ride Minuet. Kingfisher is handsome and normally well behaved. Just like Colorado and Morello, Kingfisher loves his treats. Kingfisher is really sweet and suits Honey well. He is a good jumper and is excellent in dressage.

Name: Maximum Velocity
Breed: Warmblood x
Color: Bay
Gender: Gelding
History: Maximum Velocity, AKA "Max", is Sienna's show pony who she rides in most top events as Sienna rides in the A-circuit shows. You only see him in A Time to Remember at the All Schools show in the warm-up ring and when he is jumping, as Sienna goes to Alice Allbrights' school for girls. He is muscular, glossy and fit, and he seems a willing ride. He turns in fast, and clears round on most jumping courses they enter into, as he has been perfectly trained!

Name: Mischief Maker
Breed: Thoroughbred
Color: Bay
Gender: Gelding
Personality: Mischief is a tall, strong bay gelding. When "Honey" rode him for Sara since she had the flu, Dylan said "What's it like up there?". Since Mischief is a horse, not a pony like the others' ponies.

Name: Moonlight Minuet
Breed: Connemara Pony (Introduced into the books as Pure Connemara, but a later book says she is a Connemara-Arabian cross)
Color: Gray
Gender: Mare
History: Minuet is a pure gray connemara who belongs to Patience. Nonetheless, Minuet becomes close to Honey after she nurses the gray back to health. Moonlight Minuet comes to CH in book 3. Minnie has a sweet nature and only wants to please. But when Patience and her BFF, Lynsey, strain Minnie's tendons, Honey throws all her devotion into helping Minnie to get better.

Name: Morello
Breed: Pinto or paint (color breed)
Color: Skewbald
Gender: Gelding
History (Personality:) Spunky (like Dylan), has his off days, loves attention, and is ready to give (and take carrots as a reward) when in an agreeable mood.
History: Morello is Aunt Ali's Pinto Pony. Dylan met him while visiting her aunt's stable in Kentucky. They went to shows together and that's where they encountered, but never truly met, Lynsey Harrison. Dylan has a picture of Morello on her bedside table. He is a moody horse and you'll never know how he'll be today so watch out. He LOVES attention and does everything in a horses' power to get it. Morello sounds facetious.

Name: Nutmeg
Breed: Buckskin
Color: Buckskin (color breed)
Gender: Mare
History: Nutmeg is a cute pony who doesn't like to be caught (in the first book, which led to Dylan meeting Malory). She likes Minnie, and the two ponies graze together. She isn't mentioned much.

Name: Quest ~*~
Breed: (Pony)
Color: Dapple Grey
Gender: Gelding
History: You read about him in A Time to Remember and you don't read much about Quest apart from that he and Jo-Ann did the eventing show at Chestnut Hill together and had a lot of fun doing it. Also you read about them in their jumping lesson with Ms Carmichael a week after the show. Jo-Ann sticks up for Lani and Colorado when Lyndsay moans about the basic gymnastic grid that Ms Carmichael set up for the ponies.

Name: Quince ~*~
Breed: Thoroughbred
Color: Silvery
History (Personality:) He isn't really mentioned much, but when he is, he sounds like a beautiful, fun-loving horse!
History: From what we know about Quince, He was ridden in shows by Mrs. Carmichael and was going to be ridden in the Cavendish shows. Everyone says that Bluegrass is the best bred horse around the C.H barns, But we can't forget Quince.

Name: Rocky
Breed: New Forest Pony
Color: Ba
Gender: Gelding
History: Rocky is Honey's own pony before the Harpers move to America. He took some time to get used to, but Honey loved him and worked hard with him. Her riding instructor, Lily, had given great advice. The pair of them did riding-school-level eventing locally. She really misses him and treasured every second with him.

Name: Sancha
Breed: ?
Color: ?
Gender: ?
History: Sancha is a horse ridden by Clare Houlder in book 5 because she got too big for Snapdragon.

Name: Shamrock
Breed: ?
Color: Grey
History: Shamrock is a pretty gray pony who Olivia rides for the junior jumping team. She isn't mentioned much apart from in the shows.
Written by meandponyz

Name: Skylark ~*~
Breed: ?
Color: Chestnut
History: Skylark is the team captain's pony for the junior jumping team. She used to be a top class show-jumping pony and always picks up on the tension of the show ring. Skylark isn't mentioned much but when Lani tries out for the intermediate riding class, Skylark takes off and Lani does this really cool thing to slow her down.

Name: Snapdragon
Breed: ?
Color: Dapple-gray
Height: About 14-14.2hh
History: A Chestnut Hill pony, a good, athletic jumper. He is not mentioned much in the books but he is ridden in the shows and used to be ridden by one of the three C's (Claire) when Ms. Mitchell worked as Director of Riding -- but when Claire had a growth spurt she was moved up to 16hh Sancha against her wishes. As far as you know, Snapdragon likes to jump and is quite energetic.

Name: Soda ~*~
Breed: Palomino
Color: Palomino
Gender: Mare
History: Soda is a gray mare who is a school horse at CH.

Name: Tear
Breed: Arabian
Color: Gray with black markings on muzzle and ears
Gender: Mare
History:

Name: Tybalt ~*~
Breed: Half Thoroughbred
Color: Dark Bay
Gender: Gelding
History: Tybalt came to Chestnut Hill after being abused by his first owners and is wary and intimidated by humans because of it. Malory came upon him when she and Dylan went with Mrs. Carmichael to check out some horses. He reminded her of her grandparent's horse Zanzibar. Mrs. C. Struck up a deal with his owner Ryan, and Tybalt came to Chestnut Hill. Malory called Amy Fleming in to help her calm him down. With time, patience, and alternative remedies, Tybalt was good enough to be Malory's show horse. She was one out of the two people in the All School's show to have a clear round with Dylan and Morello. Tybalt went from a nervous wreck to cool, confident, and collected; but still needs an understanding rider like Malory to help him reach his full potential.

Name: Whisper ~*~
Color: Gray
History: Whisper is a gray mare and loves Paris Mackenzie, her owner.

Name: Winter Wonderland (AKA Winnie)
Breed: ?
Color: Grey
Gender: Gelding
History: Winnie is a gray dressage pony that Ali Carmichael buys in book 2, along with Foxy Lady and Tybalt. Dylan tries him out and he knocks over most of the jumps. He's not much of a showjumper but he is brilliant at dressage.

Name: Zanzibar
Breed: ?
Color: Brown
Gender: Gelding
History: He isn't mentioned very much, mainly when Malory has her flashback in Making Strides. It was her Grandparent's neighbor's horse. He has a special spiral of hair, and Tybalt has it to.
