Start at the trot. Half-halt at the crossing point in a figure 8 pattern and change the shoulder you are rising on. Repeat until the horse begins to anticipate the half halt at the crossing point of the figure 8.
Then start cantering the 8, slowing to the trot for a stride at the cross and then picking up the other lead. Repeat until the horse anticipates that half-halt and then just ask for the other lead, shifting your weight from seatbone to seatbone and some trainers like to point the inside foot while cuing with the outside heel.

Be Focused on Your horses Behavior If your horse Tends to Act up, Calm It down With some pats. If That doesn't work Turn him around from the situation and ask your Instructor how to handle him. If he Acts Up Real Bad, Ask your Instructor If you may use a different horse. | Crazybit & Lily |
