**** Tall Oak Rescue ****
a horse rescue and there are only 2 people allowed per account. You can be a horse if you want. We will assign the first horse but then you can rescue.

Star, I just want to correct you, Corn Oil is HORRIBLE for horses.

**RM Many people give corn oil, but all fats are not created equal. Corn oil contains almost all Omega 6 fatty acids—generally pro-inflammatory—and very little of the anti-inflammatory Omega 3 fatty acids that have so many health benefits. While our bodies need both types, keeping the proper balance between the two is important. For horses, experts feel that a ratio somewhere in the range of one part Omega 6 to two parts Omega 3 (a 1:2 ratio) or even a 1:4 ratio is ideal.

Oils like canola and soybean have a better ratio for horses. ***

(I didn't say CORN oil, I said SOYBEAN, it's an OK mistake to make online, but not in real life.

JC, tree less saddles spread pressure AWAY from the spine, that's the point of them...

Crazy, It's OK, Sorry if it seems like I'm running the club by myself...

If anyone needs help with training, just look back on your horses info.)

**Hi ParelliChick

I was quoting the article from the November issue of Equus. It was talking about a Michigan State University study by Hilary Clayton.

It says, in part...

The data showed that bareback riding concentrates the pressure over a small area of the horses back whereas the saddle tree disperses it more widely. And in some areas -- particularly under the riders seat bones -- the forces resulting from bareback riding reached levels that could damage the horses muscle tissues. ... During bareback riding, the area under such potentially damaging pressure was considerably larger than with a saddle.

The website

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22796121

has an abstract of the MSU study.

There was also a study about treeless saddles at

http://lib.bioinfo.pl/pmid:22178359

Which showed the same results.

All of the above is not to say that a poorly fitting saddle is a good choice, but a properly fitted saddle does distribute the riders weight better than a bareback pad or treeless saddle.

Rachel: *The cam wants a horse to be used for grooming for the kids. *

Mrs. Genima: Good! Where?

Gemma: *I rub Wanderer* Your probably just reliving nightmares. *As she speaks, the sounds of hoofbeats on pavement, tires squealing, screams and a wild stallions whinny echo in her ears*

Who's ears, Parelli, Wanderer's, or Gemma's?

Wanderer:*looks at Gemma, pinning her ears back, and then just seems to think that Rika is no more. Wanderer thinks about all the times she had been starved into submitting to humans, and beaten into obedience. Then the only good memory in her mind dies in that little instant. Wanderer turns to Gemma, and then decides to submit, but there is no happiness at all in her eyes. Wanderer
goes over to her feed tray, and eats every last bit of grain.
