*I set Pepsi at a trot, trot around the arena as a warm up once, then ask for a canter and approach the first jump, we sail over nicely, but for the 2nd jump Pepsi heisitates but I urge her over with a quick hard smack of the crop and a little more leg, she sort of bounces over and then I say gooooood, girl:) then I bring Pepsi to a trot, then a walk and ask Shelby: "can we try those jumps again or do you want to move on to other parts of riding for this lesson??"* |

* I set Pepsi in a good trot, after a 20 meter circle, I ask for the canter and Pepsi responds right away!!!!
I guide Pepsi towards the first corner jump, then I make sure we are headed toward the middle, when pepsi takes off, I rise up into the half seat with good timing, when I feel Pepsi's legs release for landing I let the reins slip through my hands, look up, and lean back a liitle.
When Pepsi comes all the way back to the ground, I keep my seat up in the half seat as Pepsi canters 3 strides to the next fence and with great skill and balance we clear the 2nd fence beautifully;)
I beam triumphantly as I slow Pepsi to a trot and then to a walk, I say to laura as I walk pepsi around, " you can give the corner fences another try too!" |

*I head Pepsi into a canter and jump on jump, then I make a 20 meter circle at a canter and then successfully clear the 2nd jump, then I pat Pepsi's neck, unmounts, loosen the girth and walk Pepsi around the arena to cool down before going back to the barn.
when Pepsi's chest is some what cool I lead her back through the bitter windy winter weather to the barn and once we get to the barn I untack Pepsi and place a cozy blanket on her, then put her in her warm, clean stall with fresh hay and water.
then I wrap up in a big coat and work on cleaning out some stalls.
I think, I will work with middy tomorrow:) |
