*** Kentucky Champions***Rose Briar and I enter the ring, and calmly wait for the bell
RRRIIINNNGGG
Rose Briar powerfully pushes off with her back feet, and leaps straight into a gallop, heading for the first barrel, with the whip sitting on it.
Rose Briar's tail is raised behind her as she gallops, her hooves softly landing in the dirt, like flying.
I lean over her shoulder, my arm out-reached for the whip, I snag it.
I move over her neck, as she flies to the barrel that was by the starting gate, I reach over her neck, drop it in, and we go to the next barrel.
That next barrel holds the carrot, I take it.
Rose Briar soars to the start barrel, I drop the carrot in, and we go to the water ballon.
I pick it up, and we go back to the start.
And the helmet that I put in the start barrel.
Rose Briar races to the last barrel in the line, a flat out sprint now, a race against time.
She slows her pace a little to let me get the apple, she circles around the barrel like she had for all the others, I take the apple.
I gently squeeze her sides, telling her to go.
Her strides reach out again, her tail raised like a banner, the white streaming behind her, the roses like splashes of the promise of spring in the snow of winter.
I lean over her shoulder, dropping the apple in the barrel.
I praise her as I cool her off after words. |

Horse Gentler & West Australian | | 2012-05-15 15:31:25 | | I tack up Pepsi, and mount her, wearing my red and white striped helmet and shirt, white pants, and red boots. Pepsi has on a red saddle, red and white striped saddle pad and boots, and a poll guard. I go to the race ring, though I haven't raced before.
The horn sounds. Pepsi gallops, gallops, gallops, really fast. She passes three horses, putting her in the lead. But a gelding passes her. I speed her up, but I don't race her too hard. We do a few more laps, and on the last lap Pepsi and the gelding are neck and neck. Pepsi looks at him, and goes faster without me making her. We pass them by, and... We cross the finish line.
I stop her and dismount, and hug her around the neck. When I let go, she rears and whinnies happily. I leave the ring and untack her, and get in my old worn jeans, cowgirl hat, red western boots, and white button-down shirt with long, cuffed sleeves. I get the sponge, mud scraper, and a bucket full of water, and I wash her and cool her down, babbling off to her about the great

Kyileanna, you entered too late for jumping and scavanger hunt, but you can still do dressage. Right after Chelsea's class, you can do class 4 in dressage. Alia, congradulations! There were some very fast horses out there, and you and Streak handled them perfectly! |
