Our Buckeye, Big Sis, died Monday night. I'm not really sure what happened, maybe the neighbor's stupid dog got her (she goes out front to eat the wild bird feed) or the early heat or the drastic temperature change. I don't know. She wasn't that old, but Buckeyes were meant to live up north, in the Dakotas and the like. They can't stand the heat, and last summer, she was miserable. So, our chicken count is down to sixteen again. Eaglegirl has threatened to make the number fourteen by getting rid of 2.0 (who spurred me, and I have a lovely staph infection, though it's better) and Midas, the golden rooster.
