Crafting is actually a separate category. "Art" is what we usually call the visual arts: drawing, painting, sculpting, etc. These are not considered crafts. Crafting is making things by hands, which is not the same as art, though most of the time you do use your hands for art. :-)
I remember when I learned to do some simple knitting and crochet. My grandmother taught me and I was SO proud of myself! I made the LONGEST crochet chains, then tore them out and did them again. I actually did a few granny squares, but never made anything from them. I knitted a couple of chokers for my mother's birthday that year, and sewed little beads on them for decoration. I think I stopped because I got so busy with horses, and I just never picked it up again.
Does anyone on here embroider? I would love to learn how to do some simple embroidery so I can decorate some of the garments I make. | EagleGirl & Deerslayer |

I don't embroider eagle girl....I have embroidered just like a couple letters on things, but I can't remember how I did it.

I can make 'hay' and 'hay bags' for model horses
to make pretend hay for your models pick long grass stems 8-12
stems (its okay you can pick more if you like to create 'straw' for your horses or ponies bedding) and but the stems in a water proof box in a sunny spot this method can take 1-3 days depending on the heat in your area. remember to turn or toss the grass in 6 hours time if you have a big bunch of long grass and its dry and still green underneath just flip it over. when making a haynet you can use wool or ribbon but i prefer to use wool of two colours, take two strands of wool the same thickness and different colours and tie a knot in the middle with the two colours and tie 2 same colour to create a small loop and
do it in rounds and with the strands separate the colours and tie when you have reach the side connect both side with a knot to create the loops and continue until you have reach the depth you want it to be with the 4 strand it creates strands of two in the same colour and different colours tie all 2 group strands grouped together into slip knots and once the 'hay' is finished drying put it in and have a length of wool maybe the same colour or different colour thread through the loops and tie a knot. enjoy! :) | user no longer exists & --- |
