Elizabette-*the rented truck pulls up in the driveway and she slowly slides from the seat, apprehensively keeping one eye on her new riding stables while she goes around to the trailer and leads Franzl out. She starts toward the stables, hesitating before entering the barn* Vati, *she says plaintively* muss ich hier bleiben?
Walter-*he gives her a long look* Komm, Schatz, *he tells her* Kein Angst. Es ist nicht für immer.
Elizabette-*she sighs* Ich weiß. *she tugs on Franzl's lead and enters the barn, looking nervously around for his stall. She finds it and leads him into it, then goes out to say goodbye to her father* But Vati, *she whispers as she hugs him,* what if my English isn't good enough?
Walter-You'll be fine, *he reassures her* Your Mati and I wouldn't have sent you here if we weren't sure that you could take proper care of yourself. And it isn't permanent, Schatz.
Elizabette-*she bites her lip* I. . .know. Auf Wiedersehen, Vati.
Walter-Auf Wiedersehen, Schatz. *he walks back to the truck and hops inside*
Elizabette-*she stands there and watches him drive away, then takes a deep breath and turns back to the barn* Hello, *she practices under her breath as she walks back* Can you tell me who is in charge here? *she approaches the group of girls and clears her throat* Hello, *she says carefully* Can you tell me who is in charge here?
