Kaydence finally stepped off the train onto the station platform at her destination. She looked around at the clusters of people, having no idea where she was to go. Mum had said a woman would be waiting to take her to the boarding school, but Kaydence had no idea who or where they would be. After wandering back and forth down the platform a few times, Kaydence finally spotted a woman in a uniform with the school logo on it, holding a piece of paper with Kaydences name written on it. Taking a deep breath, she walked over to the woman. Her new life was really about to begin.
After arriving at the school with the woman, whom Kaydence found out was very bubbly and called Miss Winifred, Kaydence was taken to her dormitory block of the school. The blocks contained rows of rooms, and there were two girls to a room. Kaydence’s new home was Block K, room 11. In the room was two beds on each side with a chest of draws opposite the foot of each bed, and the left side was obviously being lived in, with clothing and bedding in disarray. Kaydence was left to herself to settle in, after receiving a brief talk and instructions as well as a few pieces of necessary paper work such as a timetable, map, uniforms and information on her riding and boarding school. When Miss Winifred left, Kaydence unpacked her things into her chest of draws, and arranged her things on her side of the room. She was nervous about meeting the occupant of the other side, but it was inevitable. Looking at the timetable, Kaydence saw she had an hour until dinner, the only thing she needed to attend today while she settled in. Miss Winifred said school uniform was not required at dinner. What do I wear then? Kaydence wondered. I guess jeans and a T-shirt will do. It’s only dinner. So grabbing fresh clothes and toiletries, she followed map to the shower block.
