So! My latest Duolingo language is Welsh. It's less illogical than Irish but still near impossible. Don't do it, you'll regret it forever. That is all.

*sighs* I guess I better tell y'all about my latest Duolingo attempt; German. So, it's honestly not going so well for me... I mean, I haven't really stuck with it much. Just a word of caution; DON'T DO GERMAN. I mean, if you have already started and you rock at it, good for you. But I promise, It will haunt your brain forever *cue the spooky sounds* OOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOH. Anyway XD Just don't start anything you will regret later. Be safe kids! And that's all I have to say.

Have you talked with Nat2 about this?

Really? German is my highest level language on Duolingo. I mean, that's not saying much, but hey. XD If you don't mind me asking, what did you find so difficult about it? Was it the spelling, or the pronunciation, or the grammar? And one last vital question: do you have the app or are you using Duolingo through the internet? The app does not (or at least DID not when I was using it, prompting tears of frustration and much throwing of breakable objects at walls due to my assumed stupidity) have added tips and tricks and more detailed explanations, like the website does. Also, even though there's a "discussion" option paired with each question on the app, the website itself also has a completely separate forums section where you can ask any kind of (language-related) question you want. If you're nervous, or your parents are nervous, about the forums and discussion panels for any reason, I'll tell you they're monitored by some downright fierce moderators who don't tolerate any funny business and keep the conversations focused on learning language. So if you've got the app check out the website and see what you think. And if you've got the website, German may just not be the language for you. But as a lover of the German language I'm hoping that's not it. XD I will say it can be very confusing because of the grammar and the fact that words have genders and therefor different gender articles that you have to memorize (or at least intuitively "know") to really get anywhere. Now that the spiel is finished, and I hope it helped, Happy (late) Thanksgiving!

Ok XD You clearly have a lot to say. Yeah, I'm using the app but I actually didn't know about the website, so that's something I could try. It's just the way they say the words that really bothers me. They always have this very posh man (or woman) that says everything in an extremely hard to understand tone of voice. Not good for beginners, I know.

Yeah, sorry about that, I talk a lot when I get het up about something. I'm still het up, so here we go. . .XD Definitely check out the website--it makes a ton more sense than the app. And I know what you mean about the pronunciation; both the man and woman get a lot of complaints because they say things wrong, or they're so garbled or "computery" that they end up sounding like something totally different. I was once faced with a lesson in which I could've sworn that the woman was saying "Walmart" instead of whatever word I was supposed to be learning. I finished by the skin of my teeth and went to the discussion section to find that everybody else thought she'd said "Walmart" too. What I did to sort-of make up for it is listened to German folk and marching songs (the marching songs especially because they're very even and regimented, so the words are clearer--at least to me XD ) with accurate captions--and then I watched TV shows with Germans speaking actual German dialog written by Germans--Combat! being one of my favorites, because the Germans on that show never shut up. My mom also suggests kid shows, no matter how goofy it seems, because the language will be easier for young children. And just try your very best to get used to Duolingo's weird pronunciations, because it's no better on any of the other language programs they have. XD That last part isn't very fun advice but hey.
