Duolingo going good. I did have a quick glance at the website but haven’t really gotten around to actually learning anything. Oooops. I’ve stated pig Latin because I thought it made so much sense, but it really doesn’t. Believe me.
And I’m too lazy to work it all out. 😉😂🤓

I've just started Scots Gaelic for the heck of it, but since the word for "small" sounds like "big", I'm slightly freaked out. The only thing that actually is what it looks and sounds like is "cat".
There's a lot of things you don't know about pigs, Ponygirl. They're very complex and mysterious creatures. I should know, my brother acts like one when it comes to cleaning anything. |

Admin: A fun read, if you can find it, is Lillian Beckwith's "The Hills is Lonely" that is an account of an English school teacher who retires to the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Lots of Gaelic phrases and a good account of what life was like in that remote place back in the 1950's or so. Ha Kamera.

Scots Gaelic is basically what it sounds like--the Scottish version of Irish Gaelic, which is what the Irish speak even though the Irish like to call Irish Gaelic just plain "Irish". Yeah, it's confusing, and my explanation is probably wrong but I'm recalling a Wikipedia article from memory so it was probably wrong in the first place anyway. It's on Duolingo; if you want to check it out, never fear, there is a way to delete courses from your profile if you don't want to do them anymore.
Thanks, Admin! That sounds fun. For school I was forced to read an awful book about some American reporter living in Mexico, so I'm slightly leery of "random-person-existing-in-foreign-environment" books, but this one actually sounds good. XD |
