LOL it is something I just figured out how to fix. I guess I am not talkative enough...

Oh, I get it now! haha

MAC, here's the article, i went looking all over the house for it and the last place I looked was the place right next to where I was sitting. Ok, here it is. First thing it talks about is if yuor horse needs semi quarter bars or full quarter bars. The semi quarter bars are intended for narrow horses with high withers, while the full quarter bars are intended for musclar, low withered horses. Arab trees aren't only for arabians, they're designed to fit shorter backed horses. Bring a picture of your horse when you go to buy, it can help the acosstiate find a saddle for you. Also you can make a wire outline of your horse's withers, but trace it onto cardboard, then bring it to the tack store, as the wire can get beat up, on the ride over. Some tack stores will let you bring your horse onsite and fit your saddle to your horse at the store. Another thing on the side of the article is 5 ways to tell if the saddle doesn't fit. 1. is dry spots on an otherwise sweaty back. The saddle is placing uneven pressure on the horse's back. The dry areas are where the saddle is putting pressure, which decreases circulation and prevents airflow between the saddl, pad, and skin. 2,The cantle bobs up and down as the horse moves. This is because the saddle is too wide. 3.Your horse pins his ears while being saddled. Pay attention to express unusual anger towards being tacked up. 4.Areas of raw hairless skin. Splotches of white hair indicate old saddle sores. To catch a `saddle sore in the making, look for abraded or raw patches of skin. 5.You have to constantly readjust your position. A properly fitted saddle, should be comfortable and encourage good position.

Now the western saddles are easier than the English saddles. If you need help with English saddles, let me know, i'll consult the article. Lucky for me though, I have a flocked wintec saddle with the interchangable gullet. If you need help with ANYTHING, feel free to ask.

Wow that was a long post, and that wasn't the whole article. Also, be sure the saddle fits you also. Sit back on your pockets, and there should be about 2 fingers width between your thigh and the swell of the saddle.

TGG a carrot stick is a stick with a string at the end. MAC what breed is your horse? and you can get saddles that fit the horse but the seat it's self is uncomfy to you. Sorry about the news Mybuety on your mare (selling her.) MIssy can be a pain alot but I'd hate to sell her. TThanks for the advice also on Missy and Belle. She still does it. It's weird though, she never freaks out at belle when she goes inbetween her legs and every where when I'm on her back, and she only does it if it's just Missy and me and then Belle approaches from Missy's side towards me. Um Missy gotten in to a buting habit! I never ever ever or any other people have fed her by hand. (only with long wreaths of hay.) She bites when she's annoyed and ries to bite me now when I pick her hooves out. She started this bad habit when winter started. she's chnged ALOT since winter has come. The first day I got her she was as sweet as a button and would do anything. I kept her (for fence reasons) over with my nieghbors horse. (my nieghbor owns her step sister.) she was there for three days but because the pasture had alot o fharmful things in it I took her away from the pasture and put her in my paddock. That's when everything changed. she started getting mean. by mean I mean
hindquarters towards me
barring teeth at me if I tried to walk beside her when she started walking off
and then she started threatening to bite . and now she is just plain biting
anytime she does so we pop her on the chin groove.
and then right when she does right we rub her whole muzzle.

OKAY!!!! for christmas I thought it'd be nice to list the personalties of you and your horse's. What personalites that is you two have in common!

Missy and me
stubborn when tired
grouchy when tired.
loves green apples despises' red apples.
forms an opinion on how everything they look at would taste. (except she actually tastes it! I just imagine how it would taste.)
(OKay this might seem really weird but when I was really young (6 to 7) I would bite people if they grabbed my wrist or anything like that, missy has *looselips* I call it anytime you grab her halter.) anyhow off of subject!
if some one is mean or we think so, we "scold" them, example
if you do something to Missy or say, have a bad attitude she mirriors your attitude and reacts to your action toward her, may it be good or bad. I get your attitude and act like you.
Missy has THICK hair I mean THICK and I do too.
She has brown big eyes and so do I.
If we're in a certain mood we'll find a way to tell you it.
we're both kind, but impatient.
We both talk alot.
(She nieghs at the funniest times and snorts and diffrent things. and I talk to her a lot not humans I talk to my animals okay! lol)
try to take care of other people but mess up alot on that part.
example the incident with belle (on her part of the example.)

well that's our two's personalites that are alike! my dad says though that her and I get into so many fights because we are alike! if you want to write down your two's personalities go ahead! I'd love to hear how your like your horse or how opposite you two are from eachother! (Me and my dog are complete opposites!)

GS, It might be something you're doing with her. Don't take that the wrong way, I don't mean it like that! Clinton Anderson said one time,

If your horse moves one step into your circle, you might not notice it, but the horse does. So next time, the horse will move in two steps, and before you know it, the horse is right next to you.

As far as biting, poking her in the chin groove should resolve that pretty soon. If it doesn't help try poking her in the side of the nose and see if it makes any difference.

You may need to reinforce your space a little bit. Does she walk off on her own when she feels like it? does she not stop when you ask her to on the leadline? If she is, it's probaly because she doesn't respect you. If she doesn't respect you, try taking the end of your leadline and popping her in the chest with it. When she backs up, rub her and tell her good girl. We refer to it as rubbing it away. Going back to the biting subject, from what you're saying, it seems like a domince issue. Ground work, ground work, and more ground work. Do everything you can think of to work with her on the ground. When you do the ground work, don't let Missy get away with anything. Even if it's her backing up in the cross ties, if you ask her to move forward she needs to move forward. If it's bad enough, it might not hurt to take a ground lesson with a trustworthy instructor. I'm reading a book called how to think like a horse, and if I find anything interesting, i'll post it.

Sorry about all the typing, I get to typing about whatever it is and get carried away.

mybuety you said it very well, I agree with what you wrote. I also believe that Missy is trying to be the boss.

Missy is a mare so no wonder she feels dominant! You have to show her that YOU are the boss and not her so then she will listen to you. I believe I have an article on it somewhere so I will look and post it!
HAVE A MARE-E CHRISTMAS!!!! lol

Lol, Mac! My overly smart, getting away with just about anything, arab mare(Beauty) did the same thing with me, although now I know how to fix it. The book i'm reading is supposed to understand to be safe, minimize stress, help you get in touch with your horse, etc. Like MAC said, i'll also look around for Clinton Anderson articles, magazine articles, i'll do a search also. I want to know what helps though, you've got me curious about what works. And remember horsemanship is a mix of things, if you're not a fan of Clinton, take what you do like and apply it. Then something you like from Parelli, and use it as a combination. I would definatly smack her across the chest with a lead rope if she walks all over you. You're not beating them, and smack is probaly to harsh of a word, you're just asking to have you're space back. When mares face their foals and look at them, the foal should back up. You're just reinforcing your space. I know what abuse looks like, and this is far from it.

Let me know if anything I said helps!
