Hey, SWC! Please do join. And while you're at it, share the secret of how your dad managed to learn French. XD I tried once, but it wasn't pretty. lately all I can successfully say is "Help"--au secours, or something like that.
So yesterday--Sunday--we met this German kid and his aunt. His name is Ferdinand but he said people call him Ferdi, so there you are. He's from Southwest Germany, so I'm going to assume he lives in what used to be Swabia, although I could be totally, grievously wrong. But he and his aunt were very nice and outstandingly German, and it was fun to hear German grammar in English. It's his first time in the US, and he said (in perfect English) that he hadn't actually practiced his English in years, so he wasn't terribly good at it. And I'm sitting there thinking that if I ever tried something like that in German I would make an utter laughingstock of myself. |

| LOL Nat2! My dad's mom (my me-mere) (I think that's how you spell it), and his me-mere,(my grande me-mere) were both born in Belgium so he grew up around French. He's trying to teach me and he says that 'the French is in my blood' but you would NEVER guess I'm one quarter Belgian! |
