| Oh, well. The hazards of moving to a foreign country, you know. Sometimes I wonder if we speak the same language. I still get weird looks when I talk in public, and my brother's nickname at work is "Cowboy", because he drawls as much as I do. XD |

| I don't actually know Russian, to be technical about it, but I started learning it with Rocket Languages, through my old Texas library website. When we moved I couldn't access it all that well, and DuoLingo, the language-learning site I'm sort-of using now, doesn't have Russian on the app--it only has Ukrainian, which is basically watered-down bad Russian. Just don't tell the Ukrainians I said that. But I memorized the Cyrillic alphabet (great fun, that) and I know a word or two. I'd die if you dropped me down in the middle of Moscow, of course, but then again wouldn't we all. But if you want to learn Russian, I'd say go for it! There's a popular demand for Russian-and-English speakers these days, and while it's tough it's a beautiful language. If you can get past all the words that sound alike and the fifty-eight tenses, I mean. If you want any help along the way I'll try my best, but I hardly remember any of my lessons, alas. . . |
